As an integral part of the Maintenance Management Team, the Maintenance Materials/ Planner is responsible for supporting all of the goals and directives of the Maintenance Department Head.The primary responsibilities of the Maintenance Materials/ Planner is to; Ensure adequate spare parts and inventory by performing all duties related to stores management, such as; Managing and controlling maintenance inventories, performing timely and cost effective ordering of materials and spare parts. Monitoring delivery and shipment of parts and other materials needed by the maintenance department, stocking inventory parts and kitting materials for jobsite use.Other duties include; managing the flow and accuracy of maintenance work orders, issuing and tracking purchase orders from cradle to grave, performing maintenance job planning functions, and supervising union maintenance personnel as needed.Essential Duties and Responsibilities:Safety
Observes, interprets, and actively supports and enforces safety procedures and policies.
Advises management on opportunities to improve safety by:
Reporting unsafe conditions or activities.
Determining appropriate actions beyond guidelines.
Provides guidance on the proper use of equipment and materials.
Monitors service providers and contractors to ensure compliance with safety policies.
Assist Safety and Health coordinator, providing technical support and advice.
Interprets company policies to workers and enforces safety regulations
Security
Observes and actively supports food defense programs and policies.
Maintains buildings and structures in support of facility security objectives.
Quality
Observes and actively supports organizational quality objectives and policies.
Looks for ways to improve and promote quality.
Applies feedback to improve quality performance within the maintenance department.
Monitors own work to ensure quality.
Demonstrates accuracy and thoroughness in the performance of duties
Follows all food safety procedures and practices to promote our food safety culture.
Purchasing
Performs all aspects of material and supply procurement for the maintenance function, as needed. This includes but is not limited to:
Soliciting vendors and obtaining competitive bids where appropriate.
Issuing purchase orders and placing orders for needed materials.
Monitoring Vendor delivery performance and verifying receipt of materials.
Providing guidance to maintenance team members, when assigned to support these tasks.
Provides needed information to management on purchasing and contracting decisions.
Spare Parts and Inventory
Responsible for maintenance spare part and inventory effectiveness and efficiency.
Maintains adequate parts inventory and spares to ensure minimal downtime to lack of parts.
Actively supports policies and procedures to manage and control inventory accuracy and costs.
Develops and maintains critical spares lists.
Advises plant and maintenance management on critical spare parts needs.
Maintenance Operations
Supports the maintenance department in a manner assuring high quality, cost-efficient maintenance of the Company's equipment, buildings and grounds by:
Studying production schedules and estimating worker hour and material requirements for completion of job assignments.
Establishing and adjusting work procedures and schedules to meet production needs.
Suggesting and implementing changes in working conditions and use of equipment to increase efficiency of shop, department, or work crew.
Analyzing and resolving work problems, assists workers in solving work problems.
Motivating Employees to meet performance and quality goals.
Providing training to maximize employee knowledge, performance and safety.
Interprets specifications, blueprints, and job orders to workers.
Maintaining time and production records and utilizing these records to identify trends and taking corrective actions when warranted.
Working with other supervisors to coordinate activities with individual departments.
Technically supports maintenance personnel in all phases of installation, repair and maintenance of plant equipment, systems, buildings and grounds.
Assists workers in diagnosing malfunctions in machinery and equipment.
Supports workers engaged in dismantling, assembling, and installing industrial machinery.
Supervises equipment repairs, installation and modification of existing plant equipment on an efficient and timely bases through effective management and leadership of maintenance team.
Preventive Maintenance
Supports the planning, implementation and management of an effective preventative maintenance program that:
Reduces plant downtime and ensures efficient utilization of plant equipment.
Provides operations with reliable equipment that operates at a high performance level.
Helps develop and maintain effective preventative maintenance procedures.
Contracted Maintenance
Coordinates, expedites and assure quality of contracted work with minimum interruption of normal production operations.
Monitors Contractors to ensure compliance with company policies and procedures.
Ensures completion of contracted work to expectations and quality standards.
Process improvement and capital projects
Works with Management to support the scheduling of maintenance and capital projects, where the two intersect.
Materially supports process improvements, through timely and cost effective delivery of material needs.
Recommends measures to improve production methods, equipment performance, and quality of product.
Directly supports and participates in the achievement of the maintenance improvement action plan.
Desired Technical Abilities:
Experienced/knowledgeable in all aspects of systems found in a production facility, including:
Electrical and electronic systems repair, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Modification of programming for PLC's and other process control equipment.
Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
The fundamentals of repairing machinery and equipment.
Supervisory Responsibilities
Directly and indirectly supervises all staff members assigned to the Maintenance Department, as needed.
Carries out supervisory responsibilities, when required, in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws.
Responsibilities include:
Interviewing, hiring, and training employees;
Planning, assigning, and directing work;
Appraising performance;
Rewarding and disciplining employees;
Addressing complaints and resolving problems.
Minimum Qualifications:
3+ years of industrial maintenance/maintenance management experience, or equivalent experience in MRO or the Industrial supply industry.
Proficient computer and Microsoft Suite software skills.
Preferred Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree (B. A.) from four-year College or university.
Experience in all aspects of systems found in a production facility, including:
Electrical and electronic systems repair, maintenance and troubleshooting.
Mechanical, hydraulic, and pneumatic systems maintenance and troubleshooting.
The fundamentals of repairing machinery and equipment.
Experience with enterprise software systems.
Physical Demands:
Occasionally required to stand, walk, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance and stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Frequently required to sit. The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50+ pounds.Work Environment:
