Advanced Practice Provider (Physician Assistant or Advanced Practice Registered Nurse)

The ideal candidates for the Advanced Practice Provider (APP) position will have Oncology and Surgery Service experience. Open to New Graduates.
Patient CareCollaborate with physician and clinical team to manage patients in one or multiple areas of the department (GI, Melanoma, Sarcoma, Endocrine, Port Clinic, Breast Cancer).Employee will demonstrate population-based competencies across the continuum of care.Employee performs history and physical assessment and collaborates with physician to prescribe tests and interpret results as well as provide appropriate treatment.The employee will optimize practice autonomy within their professional scope while collaborating with the multidisciplinary team in their particular assigned areas.Outpatient Clinic APP - Employee assigned to outpatient clinic will manage new patients, follow-up patients, post-op patients, survivorship and surveillance patients in collaboration with physician and clinic team.Operating Room - Employee with operating room privileges and responsibilities will assist in surgery as allowed by certification and scope. Employee will perform pre-operative assessments and evaluate immediate post-operative status as well as interpret tests and prescribe appropriate treatment.Inpatient Care - Employee assigned to inpatient care will manage patients during hospitalization and post-surgery in collaboration clinical team. Employee will participate in evaluation and management of patients referred for surgical consults.

EducationREQUIRED:
Degree requirements as defined by the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) as required for clinical licensure as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant.
Licensure/CertificationREQUIRED:
Written authorization from the Texas Board of Nursing (BON) or Texas State Board of Physician Assistant Examiners (TSBPAE) to function as an Advanced Practice Registered Nurse or Physician Assistant. Related authorization must be consistent with clinical practice area and patient population. Basic Life Support (BLS) or Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) certification. MAY BE REQUIRED: Eligible to be granted limited prescriptive authority by the State of Texas.
PREFERRED:
American Heart Association Basic Life Support (BLS), ACLS (Advanced Cardiac Life Support) or PALS (Pediatric Advanced Life Support) certification as required by patient care area.
