Position Overview
Arnold Machinery is seeking an experienced General Manager to oversee our Hitachi branches, combining both Sales and Branch Management responsibilities. This leadership role is critical to the success of our construction equipment division and will drive the operational efficiency, sales growth, and customer satisfaction across the region. The ideal candidate will be responsible for managing a dedicated team, developing and executing strategic plans, and ensuring the division's profitability while upholding Arnold Machinery's reputation for Silver Service®. Essential Job Functions
Sales Management:Customer Service Excellence: Lead the branches in delivering Silver Service to customers, ensuring all interactions are focused on exceeding customer expectations.Strategic Sales Planning: Develop and implement marketing and sales strategies to maximize growth, profitability, and market share in the construction equipment sector.Sales Target Management: Manage and drive the sales team to achieve monthly and annual sales targets. Monitor performance and adjust strategies as needed.Customer Relationship Management: Build and maintain strong relationships with key accounts, and expand the customer base through effective cold calling and networking.Financial Counseling: Provide financial guidance and support to customers to facilitate sales and maximize opportunities.Invoicing & Collections: Ensure timely invoicing, follow-up on collections, and accurate financial reporting to maintain healthy cash flow.Branch & Division Operations:
Division Leadership: Oversee the overall operations of the Hitachi branches, including the branch's day-to-day functions, ensuring smooth, efficient operations.Staff Management: Hire, train, supervise, and mentor branch staff. Conduct regular performance reviews and ensure all associates are trained in Silver Service® policies.Operational Strategy: Develop and execute operational strategies that align with company goals to improve efficiency, service quality, and profitability.Inventory & Asset Management: Manage inventory levels, assets, and accounts receivable to ensure accurate records and financial integrity. Control expenses associated with branch operations.Budgeting & Financial Oversight: Prepare and manage branch budgets, analyze financial statements, and ensure accurate reporting to division leadership. Implement corrective actions when necessary to meet financial goals.Operational Excellence: Oversee the proper functioning of all administrative duties, including billing, pricing accuracy, accounts payable/receivable, and inventory control.Compliance & Safety: Ensure that all branch and division operations comply with company policies, safety standards, and regulatory requirements.Administrative Functions:
Accounting Oversight: Supervise all accounting functions at the branch, including correcting billing errors, matching receipts to statements, and submitting financial reports promptly.Inventory Management: Oversee ordering, receiving, and stocking of equipment and supplies to maintain accurate inventory levels.Timesheets & HR Management: Ensure accurate collection of timesheets, vacation, sick leave tracking, and other HR-related administrative duties.Project Management: Assist with special projects, including creating programs, updating pricing on the website, and maintaining marketing materials.Non-Essential Job Functions:
Maintain a clean and organized workspace.Assist with data entry and other administrative tasks as needed.Physical Demands and Working Conditions
Physical Requirements: Ability to sit for extended periods, bend, reach, and move about the branch and customer sites (including uneven terrain). Occasional lifting and standing may be required.Communication: Must be able to communicate effectively by phone, in person, and via radio. The ability to hear mechanical or safety-related issues in the workplace is critical.Work Environment: Ability to work in varying weather conditions and sometimes in physically demanding settings. Must be comfortable climbing in and out of heavy machinery.Education & Qualifications
Education: High school diploma or equivalent required. A degree in Business, Operations Management, or a related field is preferred.Experience: 3-5 years of management experience in sales, operations, or branch management, ideally in the construction equipment or related industries.Skills: Strong leadership, communication, organizational, and time-management skills. Proficiency in budgeting, financial reporting, and inventory management.Sales Leadership: Proven track record of achieving sales goals, generating new business, and expanding customer relationships.Technical Acumen: Strong understanding of construction equipment and ability to manage both sales and technical service operations.Benefits Offered
