Summary:

The staff nurse is a skilled health care provider who administers first aid and other health services to students as needed. As a professionally trained person, the staff nurse is expected to demonstrate sensitivity to the health needs of all students.

Essential Functions: Provides first aid services to students and school personnel in accordance with district guidelines. Administers medications and treatments to students in accordance with the prescription of the student's physician and the direction of the North Penn School District medical director. Assists in the execution of the mandated program as directed by the certified school nurse. Contacts parent /guardian regarding an injured or ill student. Keeps records and other documents accurate and up-to-date. Confers with the school nurse at regular interval and with the principal and school nurse coordinator as needed. Maintains confidentiality of information regarding students and student records. In conjunction with the school nurse, acts as a liaison between school, home and community. Collaborates with the school nurse to identify community health resources and to assist students and/or parents/ guardians with their use. Together with the school nurse, serves as a health consultant to school personnel. Assists the school nurse in the planning of a healthful school environment to meet the needs of the individual student. Assist in the assessment of the social, emotional and physical needs of the students and reports these needs to the school nurse, parents and teachers. Follows North Penn School district policies, procedures and guidelines. Assists in keeping the health suite clean and orderly. Restocks health room supplies and maintains inventory. Performs other related assigned building duties as directed by the school nurse. Education and/or Certification Required:

Licensed professional nurse in Pennsylvania

Experience Needed:

Minimum 2 years nursing experience

Requisite Skills:

Valid CPR and First Aid certificate Strong written and verbal communication skills, phone etiquette and conflict resolution skills are required Multi task capabilities Able to work within timelines Ability to support a culture of equity, diversity and inclusion
