Senior Tax Specialist

Primary Purpose
This position is responsible for managing all monetary transactions in the tax office, ensuring the efficient operation of the office through training, public relations, and support to both the Tax Assessor-Collector and taxpayers. The role includes oversight and training of Tax Specialists, assisting with tax-related issues, and contributing to the overall mission and strategic goals of Clear Creek ISD.
Qualifications:

Strong communication, organizational, and analytical skillProficiency in Microsoft OfficeKnowledge of GDS tax software, PowerSchool ERP, and Laserfiche software preferredThe ability to handle cash, manage time, and work independentlyExperience
At least 3 years in tax collections with a focus on cash handling and customer serviceMajor Responsibilities and DutiesResearch, interpret and Understand property tax laws and legislative changesResolve taxpayer inquiries by communicating their rights and responsibilities through both verbal and written communication.Prepare and deposit tax collections, balance payments, manage refunds, monitor installment plans, suits on accounts and bankruptcy paymentsPost bank lockbox, mortgage company, and electronic payments to customer accounts.Assist Tax Assessor-Collector in the reconciliation of tax collections to the general ledger.Process and apply appraisal district changes, updates and corrections to taxpayer accounts and associated refunds.Maintain, monitor, and recalculate tax ceilingsFile tax liens and collect escrow payments on mobile homes.Verify and issue tax certificates, including collection of fees.Prepare and record all bank deposits for Sheriff Officer pick-up for the ESC and tax office.Process and collect all NSF and return checks.Train Tax Specialists and provide daily oversightHandle taxpayer issues, process refund requests, assist with tax certificates and lien filings, and monitor all void and reissue check requests for taxpayer refunds.Ensure accurate record-keeping, prepare reports, and handle and any other bank-related tasks.State up to date with all HCDE (Harris County Department of Education) record retention schedules and ensure all tax office documentation is sent to HCDE for proper storage.Assist with managing the tax office budget, including entering purchase orders, processing check requests, and handling travel-related expenses.Work with financial institutions, vendors, and other departments to resolve issues and improve tax office operations.Engage in ongoing training to obtain or maintain your TDLR license and continue with professional growth.Exhibit CCISD Core Values of trustworthiness, respect, responsibility, fairness, caring, and citizenship.Actively engage in actions that contribute to the overall mission and strategic plan of Clear Creek ISD.Stay up-to-date professionally through the selection of quality professional learning opportunities for personal growth.Research district policy, precedent, and current practices prior to taking action.Participate as an effective team member who contributes to district, department, and content goals.Demonstrates proficient levels of technology applications.Participates fully in drills and safety exercises to provide for the safety and overall emotional wellbeing of students.Utilize time wisely for effective management of job responsibilities.Maintain punctuality in daily work times, appointments, and meetings.Meet task completion deadlines established by supervisor.Maintain friendly customer-service-driven interactions with all stakeholders, students, teachers, administrators, and co-workers.Work cooperatively with co-workers and supervisors to ensure that the goals of the school/department are met.Maintain a positive and professional tone in all communication (i.e. email, written, and verbal).Perform other duties and accept other responsibilities as assigned.
