Job Title : Animal Welfare Specialist - Swine Production
Salary : $50,000 - $70,000 per year with Full Benefits Package, Company Vehicle, Paid Travel
Job Overview :As an
Animal Welfare Specialist , you will play a critical role in monitoring, auditing, and ensuring that all swine production practices adhere to both company and industry standards for animal welfare. This position will involve occasional travel to various facilities in the Midwest, conducting on-site audits, and providing support to our team to maintain and enhance the health, well-being, and humane treatment of animals in our care.
Key Responsibilities :Conduct regular audits of animal welfare practices at various production sites, ensuring compliance with company policies and industry regulations.Assess and monitor animal health, behavior, and overall living conditions to ensure proper treatment.Provide guidance and training to facility managers and staff on best practices for animal care and welfare.Document audit results and assist in the development of corrective action plans when necessary.Collaborate with other departments (e.g., production, veterinary services) to implement improvements and maintain high standards of animal welfare.Stay current on animal welfare laws, regulations, and emerging best practices within the swine industry.Assist with developing reports for management and regulatory authorities as required.Travel to multiple sites within the Midwest to perform audits, provide training, and support ongoing welfare initiatives.Qualifications :
Bachelor’s degree in Animal Science, Agriculture, Veterinary Science, or a related field (or equivalent work experience).Experience in animal welfare auditing, animal care, or livestock production, preferably in the swine industry.Strong knowledge of animal welfare regulations, industry standards, and best practices.Ability to travel frequently to various sites within the Midwest.Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with diverse teams.Detail-oriented with the ability to identify potential welfare issues and recommend solutions.Ability to work independently and manage time effectively.Compensation & Benefits :
