has an exciting opportunity. We are looking for a highly motivated Genetic Improvement Specialist to join our team. This position will lead successfully train, monitor and execute the technical implementation of PIC’s genetic program across the PIC Elite Farms. The successful candidate has the ability to work in a culturally diverse, fast-paced environment as well as work autonomously as well as collaboratively across functional teams. This candidate needs strong attention to detail and ability to establish priorities and meet deadlines as well as possesses strong communication, interpersonal and organizational skills.

The preferred location for the position is in Midwest United States.

You Will

Support the execution of the genetic improvement strategy and train staff and technical site leads for successful implementation across multiple domestic and international sites.

Support the genetic improvement strategy communication across the elite farm system to encourage understanding and alignment to objectives and goals.

Execute genetic improvement protocols for routine and special projects.

Provide Supply Chain with monthly reports for internal and external use.

Assist the planning and execution of genetic dissemination of elite animals across the global elite farms.

Provide remote support for data acquisition, including troubleshooting software and hardware.

Use existing procedures to solve standard problems; analyze information and standard practices to make judgments.

Interpret and analyze data using statistical techniques.

Travel approximately 40-50%, domestic and international.

RequirementsBasic Qualifications: (required)

University Degree in Animal or Meat Science, Animal Breeding and Genetics or a related field.

A minimum of 5 years of experience within livestock production systems, including experience in genetic production and training experience.

Working knowledge of contemporary record-keeping systems.

A minimum of 4 years of experience with Microsoft Office and other relevant software applications.

Must not co-habitat or live on the same premises with any person who works with swine and/or with people that are in routine contact with swine.

Preferred Qualifications:

Advanced Degree in Animal or Meat Science, Animal Breeding and Genetics or related field.
