Senior Analyst (Indirect Tax)

The Senior Analyst - Indirect Tax will be responsible for handling the indirect taxes (sales, use, gross receipts, B&O, property tax, and other indirect taxes) for numerous Daikin owned entities. Responsibilities will include all aspects of indirect tax compliance such as but not limited to timely completion and filing of sales & use tax returns, general ledger account reconciliation, researching and reviewing tax laws, resolving vendor and customer tax issues, handling sales & use tax audits, maintaining tax automation system, special projects, and administrative tasks.

May include:

Responsible for the preparing, reviewing and filing of the monthly, quarterly, semi-annual and annual filings of sales & use tax returns for both domestic and CanadaRegister, renew, and/or cancel all sales and use tax permits with state and local taxing jurisdictionsPrepare sales tax journal entries, monitor and reconcile the transaction tax general ledger accounts monthlyReview and validate resale/exemption certificates from customersRespond to sales and use tax inquiries raised by internal customers and taxing jurisdictionsApply technical knowledge of sales and use tax laws, regulations, rulings and court decisions to make a tax decision on sales transactions and purchases/expenses to ensure compliance with state and local taxing jurisdictionsIssue resale/exemption certificates to vendors if applicableLead, research and review tax law changes that may impact customer billing and procurement processes and propose process changes to integrate any tax law changes into company operations as applicableManaging day-to-day operations: assigning tasks, providing guidance, and evaluating performanceSetting goals and objectives: working with employees to set goals and develop plans to help them growProviding training and development: identifying opportunities for employees to improve their skills and arrange training sessionsPerform M&A tax due diligence, analyze business financials through inspection of documents, business plan and model analysisProvide training, direction and lead junior staff membersRespond to all state and local notices, assessments and inquiriesHandle sales & use tax audits, determine right amount of taxes and keeping appropriate documentationReview purchases to assure appropriate taxability decisionLead and manage related tasks for property taxMust be able to work with both internal employees and third parties in resolving issues and implementing improved work processesPerform research for a wide range of other tax topics as necessary and assist with tax planning projectsWork collaboratively with finance team, following policies and procedures that ensure the overall operational effectiveness of the global organizationPerform other related duties or assist with special projects as requiredNature & Scope:

8 years of sales tax experience in public accounting, or multiple entities/multi-state company (manufacturing industry experience is preferred).4 years of leadership experience requiredEducation/Certification:

Bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, or related field is requiredCMI Sales Tax designation or CPA license is preferredPeople Management: No
