Job Duties
Provides quality professional human resource services to employees at an adult correctional center, Coffeewood Correctional Center. Interprets policies and procedures and provides guidance on benefits, leave, Fair Labors Standard Act (FLSA), payroll, human resource transactions, Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), workers' compensation, and other human resource functions. Resolves issues between Human Resources and Payroll, Department of Human Resource Management (DHRM), Budget, and Department of Accounts (DOA). Encourages, promotes, and enhances the healing environment by modeling the way and utilizing creative means to improve customer service delivery.This is an hourly position limited to working no more than 1,500 hours per agency during the 12-month period of May 1 - April 30, regardless of the hire date. The wage employment period resets on May 1 of the following year. All wage employees are limited to working no more than 29 hours per week on average over the 12-month period. This wage position offers no state benefits.
Minimum Qualifications
Extensive working knowledge of generalist human resource functions, to include all of the following: leave administration, complex payroll transactions, employee benefits, and workers compensation. Working knowledge of Federal and State laws, policies, and procedures related to human resources. Demonstrated ability to analyze, interpret, and apply human resource policies and procedures and to consult with management and employees. Demonstrated skill in the use of a Human Resources Information Systems (e.g., PageUp, Cardinal, BES, etc.) in entering and compiling data. Demonstrated ability to communicate effectively, both orally and in writing. Strong interpersonal skills.
Additional Considerations
Advance knowledge in Human Resources, a related field, or equivalent applicable experience or training. Professional Human Resources certification.
