Position Description:
In this role the successful candidate will be an individual that possesses a sound knowledge of how technology is situated in the workflow of clinicians and others within healthcare. The Epic Trainer will be responsible for developing and maintaining course curricula and supporting training materials for their applications. The Epic Trainer will conduct training for new staff, provide refresher training as needed and coordinate and implement training for software upgrades and updates. The Epic Principal Trainer works closely with leaders, subject matter experts, and team members on all aspects of the Epic project to assure project deadlines are met and to ensure all training reflects operational workflows, policies and procedures.
Position Responsibilities:
Provides classroom training to end users of assigned applicationsServe as a content expert for creating and providing training for the Epic applicationGain or have already achieved from Epic certification in the appropriate applicationBuild, test and maintain the training technical environment in cooperation with Epic and LMH analystsCreate and maintain training materials including the curriculum, user guides, lesson plans, and presentationsTrain and credential additional classroom trainers if neededMaintain policy and procedure documentation for your applicationCoordinate for your application all post-live training, including new updates and hires and ongoing optimizationWork with Training Manager and Team LeadsScope:
Strong verbal communication and public speaking skills, strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build rapport easily, a willingness to learn and become proficient regarding the application(s) assigned to teach. Have the ability to adapt to change. Comfort with technology and ability to learn new applications quickly.
Experience:
Relevant health care IT or Clinical experience. Previous teaching/training and project management is a plus.Epic certification required or experience in the EpicCare Clinical Documentation area. (Epic Trainer certification is required within 6 months from employment.)Solid comprehension of clinical workflows and ability to work with clinical staff to train them on those workflows.Exceptional interpersonal, presentation and communication skills required to interact effectively with all levels of the organization and external contacts.Develop Super Users through training and creation of tools to help the Super Users support their peers.Receive MST Certification and be able to build training patients in the MST environment with direction and guidance.Strong skills in PC desktop applications such as MS Word, Excel and PowerPoint.Experience with providing education to adult learners preferred.Ability to identify opportunities for additional education and advancement of end user system utilization.Experience with providing computer-based learning is a plus.Must have strong communication skills, written and verbal.Knowledge of health care operations is preferred.
Education:
Required Bachelor's Degree or have acquired equivalent experience (1-3 years). Preferred: Bachelor's Degree in Information Systems, Health Information, Business Administration, Education, Clinical Field or similar degree. Preferred certification in at least one Epic application or prior CT Experience obtained.
