PRIMARY PURPOSE:
To prepare, serve, and clean following procedures established by USDA, TDA, Texas Dept. of Health and Food Service Department to ensure standards of service, cleanliness, health, and safety for all customers (students, staff, and community). Assist the Manager with inventory, ordering, production records etc.
QUALIFICATIONS:
Minimum Education/Certification:
HS Diploma or GED
Ability to understand instructions for food preparation and safety procedures.
Food Handlers Certification
Special Knowledge/Skills:
Working knowledge of kitchen equipment, food production, and cash register
Minimum Experience:
None
MAJOR RESPONSIBILITIES AND DUTIES:
Assist the Manger with inventory, ordering, production records and other duties.Assists in monitoring quality, quantity and appropriateness of purchased food and supplies.Back up for employees who are absent or need assistance.Assist in acceptance of deliveries, inventory counts, transfers of food products, catering production and service, and marketing and sales implementation.Cashier during lunch service.Maintains compliance with Fredericksburg School Nutrition's standards of operation for service especially guidelines for food handling, and storage. Maintains all records necessary to comply with School Nutrition, government, and accrediting agency standards, regulations and codes.Responsible for safety and security, protecting both the assets of the service area and the personal safety of employees and customers.Ensures that requirements for appropriate sanitation and safety levels in respective areas are met.Displays polite, friendly, efficient and responsive attitude to customers, visitors and coworkers alike.Maintains personal appearance and hygiene.Reads, understands and complies with posted schedules, warning signs, written communications and duties.Prepares and serves all food items in accordance to department guidelines and USDA regulations.Performs all other duties as assigned.
EQUIPMENT USED:
Uses large and small kitchen equipment to include electric slicer, mixer, pressure steamer,
deep-fat fryer and sharp cutting tools; ovens, dishwashers, and food utility carts.
WORKING CONDITIONS:

Understands verbal instructions
Physical Demands/Environmental Factors:
Continual standing, walking, pushing, and pulling; frequent stooping, bending, kneeling, and
climbing (ladder), moderate-to-heavy lifting and carrying. Moderate exposure to extreme
hot and/or cold temperatures.
Duty Days: 178
FISD pays $365 a month towards TRS Health Insurance.You can earn up to 5 local and 5 state days.
