Senior Data Scientist needed to serve on a complex technology implementation. Responsibilities include:
Lead larger teams and mentor other scientistsApply pattern recognition techniques to large structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data sets to automate and optimize data wrangling (extract, transform, clean, evaluate, normalize/standardize, and organize) from disparate sources.Technical expertise with data models, data mining, data cleansing, and segmentation techniques.Develop interrogating databases with Structure Query Language (SQL) to develop complex queries involving joins, subqueries, aggregation, indices, common table expressions, and query optimization/plans.Develop with a focus on data manipulation and/or statistics, using one or more of these languages or applications: Python, R, SAS, Tableau, AWS. Experience in both small and big data environments with an understanding of the tradeoffs in scaling algorithms between differing environments.Conduct, facilitate, and educate team on analyses, issues identification, risk assessment, and decision-making processesDesign, develop, and implement best available models and solutions to agency challenges and requirementsPrepare data, implement data models, and develop data management tools including databases to support end-to-end solutionsRequirements
Requirements for the job include:
Master's Degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, or a related discipline and 7 years of of professional experience planning, conducting, and participating in high-level functional IT systems analysis, design, integration, documentation, and implementation advice on large, complex support services projects OR a Bachelor's degree in the areas above and 10 years of experienceWorking knowledge of federal grant-making policies, procedures, and administrationMust be detail oriented and think logicallyExcellent problem solving and analytical skills and excellent written, verbal, and listening communication skills.Ability to keep up with new business and technical conceptsAble to work with minimal supervisionStrong team leadership and risk management
