Job Description
The City of Naperville is looking for a skilled Accountant to perform professional accounting work as part of a larger Finance Team. This Accountant will be managing the general ledger, performing reconciliations, supporting the annual financial audit and preparing financial reports.Duties
Some of the responsibilities will include:
Reviews bank accounts for directly deposited funds and ensures that cash receipts are posted appropriately,Prepares monthly bank reconciliations,Reconciles various accounting related software applications to ensure consistent and appropriate recording of financial transactions,Prepares adjusting journal entries, when needed,Performs research and accounting tasks in accordance with GASB standards,Prepares all necessary work papers for the annual financial audit, coordinates audit activities with the City's independent auditor, and prepares year-end adjusting journal entries as needed,Reviews City accounting procedures to improve internal controls, assure conformity to policy, and increase effectiveness,Performs special projects assigned by the Finance Director and/or other management personnel.Qualifications
Required:
Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance or a related fieldThree years of experience in a related fieldPreferred:Certified Public Accountant (CPA) licenseGovernment accounting experience
