Job DescriptionThe Cost Accountant's role involves close interaction with other departments and team members throughout MiTek. The Cost Accountant will be responsible for various activities including reporting, monthly reconciliations, and physical inventories. The role will create reports using our Business Intelligence software (Cyberquery, PowerBI). The role would need to develop systems knowledge of inventory transactions in our current ERP system and understand how to leverage this when migrating to our new ERP SAP. This role will be involved in data and system cleaning to ensure SAP has the latest and most up to date data.

Job Responsibilities & Requirements

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONSPrepare and book month-end accruals and other relevant journal entriesAnalyze inventory valuationsDevelop and implement cost standards for materials, labor and burdenReview purchase costs monthly to ensure accuracyReview costs across like sites to check for reasonablenessReview monthly variances related to material, labor and burden costs and report these to managementTeam with operations management to review results and build operating metricsContribute to the integration of new mergers and acquisitions for MiTekReview all inventory variances relating to utilization, scrap, shrinkage, and excess & obsolete materialCreate reports as needed using our Business Intelligence softwareGain a knowledge of our ERP system and the flow of inventory activity through the software in order to help with mergers, acquisitions, upgrades, etc.Work with the master data team to cleanse current QAD dataWork with business leaders to identify key factors leading to operational excellence and help implement these practices across the businessQUALIFICATIONS

Experience: 1-4 years of experience in cost accounting.Education: BSBA degree in accounting. CPA or CMA preferred.Other Requirements: Competency in Microsoft applications including Word, Excel, and Outlook.Ability to analyze and interpret data.Soft Skills

Organizational, verbal, and written communication skills a must.Attention to detail and ability to multi-task is required.Self-motivated with a demonstrated ability to problem solve.Must be team oriented and possess strong interpersonal skills.Strong sense of urgency and strong commitment to quality.Additional Requirements

15% Travel to US Plants, most travel will occur in Q1 of each year.
