This role can be based out of Los Angeles, New York (Manhattan) or Chicago.
What We Are Seeking
The Assistant Vice President, Media Practice Leader will have the opportunity to lead the development, implementation, and execution of the Media & Creative Industries portfolio for Hiscox USA. This leader will act as a subject matter expert for an established book of business and will be tasked with driving significant, opportunistic, and profitable growth year over year across digital and brokered channels. With a strong portfolio management lens, the ideal Candidate will lead all Underwriting efforts for the business. As such, this leader will bring a depth of expertise in Media Liability, particularly Multimedia, Producers E&O, and Creative Industry classes , and will effectively influence and mentor a team of specialist Underwriters. In this role, the Practice Leader will be responsible for a wide range of Underwriting Management activities, including developing Underwriting guidelines and appetite, driving best practices as it relates to risk selection, reviewing limits and aggregation as part of the strategic portfolio management, form and product development, and will serve as a thought leader both internally and in the market at large. The successful Candidate will demonstrate strong communication skills, as well as the ability to create and drive strategy while displaying a growth mindset. Additionally, they will have the strategic prowess to evaluate Hiscox's current portfolio and examine various emerging risks to ensure Hiscox remains a leader in the market for Micro to Middle Market risks. The chosen Candidate will demonstrate a strong technical understanding of the current Media Liability market and will display a level of foresight with an inquisitive mind as it relates to trends and headwinds therein. Working cross functionally in an intentionally matrixed organization, this leader will have a significant sphere of influence across Distribution, Pricing, Marketing, Claims, Operations, and Compliance, among others. The successful Candidate will report to Tyler Peterson, Senior Vice President, Underwriting Management. This position will be based in New York, NY; Atlanta, GA; Chicago, IL; or Los Angeles, CA.
Job ResponsibilitiesPrevious experience in Media underwriting.Managing profit and loss (P&L).Leading and collaborating effectively across the organization.Setting individual risk, concentration risk and aggregate limit strategies.Developing and delivering an underwriting roadmap, incorporating feedback.Minimum Requirements
