Mortgage Underwriter Role:
The starting salary for this position is $31.58 - $35.02 /hr.
Primary function is to ensure the timely and accurate underwriting of Home Equity, Conventional, FHA, VA, and USDA loans in accordance with PACU and investor guidelines. Verify the validity of the information. Maintain a working knowledge of all services and operations of the credit union.
Essential Functions & Responsibilities:
60%
Reviews 1st Mortgage and home equity loan application files to verify that application data is complete and meets Credit Union /Investor/ Secondary Market standards, including type and amount of mortgage, borrower assets, liabilities, income and length of employment; Denies loans not meeting standards. Provides Approval with conditions.
30%
Reviews submitted mortgage documentation and full mortgage file to clear conditions and provide funding approval.
5%
Collects and prepares information for use in discussions and meetings.
5%
Performs other job-related duties as assigned.
Performance Measurements:
1.
Produce loan documents and reports in a timely fashion, with zero unresolved errors.
2.
Accurately underwrite files within 2 days of receipt.
3.
Accurately organize and complete member loan files.
4.
Provide friendly, accurate, professional service to members and associates by responding to messages and correspondence within 24 hours.
5.
Demonstrate behaviors consistent with the Pen Air Core Values.
6.
Regular reliable attendance.
Knowledge and Skills:
Experience
Three years to five years of similar or related experience.
Education
A high school education or GED.
Interpersonal Skills
Work involves much personal contact with others inside and/or outside the organization for the purpose of first-level conflict resolution, building relationships, and soliciting cooperation. Discussions involve a higher degree of confidentiality and discretion, requiring diplomacy and tact in communication.
Other Skills
Excellent organizational and editing skills; proficient with spreadsheets.

Light or low amount of physical exertion
