Director of Purchasing
to lead and refine the procurement strategy for all raw materials (food ingredients). This role focuses on fostering supplier relationships, analyzing market trends, and securing competitive pricing while maintaining high standards for quality and service.Key Responsibilities
Build and execute comprehensive procurement strategies to ensure cost efficiency and a reliable supply chain.
Collaborate with senior leadership to proactively address risks in procurement and supply chain processes, offering innovative solutions.
Develop key performance metrics that track cost efficiency, supplier performance, and team effectiveness.
Lead cost-saving initiatives aimed at reducing procurement expenses and improving operational efficiency.
Partner with R&D and quality teams to streamline procurement for new product development.
Act as a key liaison between procurement and other departments to ensure alignment with company objectives.
Analyze and manage procurement budgets, including tracking variances and optimizing indirect spend.
Engage in hands-on problem solving to tackle procurement challenges and ensure seamless operations.
Mentor and grow the procurement team by providing training, career development, and leadership guidance.
Promote a culture of safety, ensuring compliance with all safety protocols and regulatory standards.
Requirements
BS/BA degree in Business, Economics, Supply Chain, or a related field required; MBA or Masters preferred
5+ years of experience in a purchasing / procurement food manufacturing environment is required
Experience managing purchasing for raw materials or commodities; prefer experience with packaging, and indirect materials.
Proven success in developing and implementing sourcing strategies that deliver cost savings and risk mitigation.
Strong experience in process optimization and system improvements to enhance procurement operations.
International purchasing experience preferred, with an ability to navigate complex supply chain dynamics.
Excellent analytical, negotiation, and leadership skills.
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Excel, Word) and experience in contract negotiation.
