Outpatient
Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner
Director to lead the psychiatric services in the Outpatient clinic and provide evidence based services for individuals. Our multi-disciplinary team of psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, mental health counselors and other professionals administer a full range of clinical and support services, resulting in a comprehensive collaborative approach to treatment.
Qualifications:
At least 3 years experience in medication management and prescribing psychiatric medications required.Experience in acute psychiatric care
and management of severe and persistent mental illness
required.Holds a Master of Science in Nursing (MSN) from an accredited university/college.Currently licensed by the Commonwealth of Massachusetts Board of Registration in Nursing to practice as a licensed Nurse Practitioner.Registered to practice as an Nurse Practitioner from the American Nurses Credentialing Center and the American Board of Nursing Specialties and Board Certified as a Psychiatric Mental Health Nurse Practitioner (PMN, NP-BC) by the American Nurses Association.Maintains a valid registration(s) to issue written oral prescriptions or medication orders for controlled substances from the Massachusetts Department of Public Health and the United States Department of Justice, Drug Enforcement Administration.Maintains current malpractice/liability insurance.Experience in acute psychiatric care required.Meets third party and Department of Public Health clinic regulations for reimbursability.Computer literacy and skill in the use of computers and related software applications.Ability to consistently meet all necessary background and credentialing requirements.Must have a valid driver's license and reliable transportation to and from work.Must have reliable telephone notification system for emergency contact.
Responsibilities:
1. Lead psychiatric services within the Outpatient and Behavioral Health Services element including collaborating with program leadership on the management of clinical functions of the services delivered to clients.
2. Ensure service delivery and utilization of supports for entire client census within Outpatient and Behavioral Health services.
3. Ensure that the client/family is at the center of all care and that all interventions are developed and provided in a manner consistent with Person preferences.
4. Provide leadership, support and clinical guidance to all staff supervised in accordance with Outpatient and Behavioral Health services policies and procedures.
5. Provide clinical guidance and leadership to supervisees and other staff members within Outpatient and Behavioral Health services.
6. Ensure all staff use sound clinical judgment and using skills to effectively respond to client needs.
7. Participate in the management of the clinic in providing on-going assessment of symptoms and responses to staff interventions.
8. Participate in the management and the development of treatment plans for the entire clinic.
9. Provide clinical direction and clinical interventions to support the treatment planning process.
10. Assist staff members in developing and practicing self-management skills, coping skills and clinically based skill development with clients in each program/service.
11. Monitor/Supervise issues related to acuity and work with individuals and staff members to ensure that acuity is responded to in a timely manner. This should include increased interventions or changing interventions and providing direct clinical support to individuals and staff.
12. Maintain a clinical caseload and provide evidence based medication evaluations and medication management services, as well as monitoring and administration of psychopharmacologic agents and their side effects to clients and their families for Outpatient and Behavioral Health services.
13. Provide MAT and harm reduction services within the context of Outpatient and Behavioral Health services.
14. Provide on call supports within the Outpatient and Behavioral Health services as appropriate.
15. Provide consultation services, including evaluating non-psychiatric and physical health problems and making referrals, when appropriate. Orders and reviews any necessary lab procedures.
16. Perform evaluations and authorize involuntary commitment of clients in accordance with the requirements of Massachusetts General Laws, Chapter 123.
17. Submit written reports and oral testimony of opinion in commitment hearing and other legal proceedings involving the clinic's patients.
