Generac Energy Technologies is seeking a Manufacturing Quality Engineering Manager to join our growing team. In this exciting opportunity, you will serve as the technical manufacturing conduit between Engineering, Manufacturing Engineering to the selected manufacturing sites (i.e. Contract Manufacturers) to drive scale-readiness in a growing family of solar energy storage products. The successful candidate will lead a growing team of manufacturing quality engineers, and technicians, collaborating with internal groups (R&D, Manufacturing, Sales, Tech Service etc) and third-party partners (contract manufacturers, independent labs) to ensure the quality and performance of current and next-generation power conversion and energy storage products. Candidates should be passionate about scaling distributed energy, and committed to robust products and aggressive quality, performance and cost targets from Generac’s chosen and qualified manufacturing sites.
This position can be based out of Portland ME, or Reno NV
Essential Duties and Responsibilities:
Supplier/Partner selection and development for High Reliability Power Electronics.
Coordinates and executes comprehensive Contract Manufacturer Process Audits at defined frequencies.
Develop and own quality performance metrics and work closely with global network of contract manufacturers to drive corrective action and continuous improvement activities.
Develops Quality Requirements Specifications for high reliability products produced by Contract Manufacturers.
Provide critical inputs on materials and process choices.
Participate in DFMEA and DFM activities for products produced at Contract Manufactures.
Quality resource to own Process Flow, PFMEA and Control Plans on new and existing products.
Lead and enforce PPAP and assure tools and processes are effective to support consistent high-quality levels at Contract Manufactures.
Ambassador for APQP and Safe Launch activities aligning with the Generac Development Process (GDP)
Drive continuous improvement initiatives based on a formal trend management approach. Provide timelines and conduct cost analysis for improvement projects using lean sigma tools.
Lead and drive all SCAR (Supplier Corrective Action Request) activities at Contract Manufacturing locations.
Participate in all Corrective Action and Preventative Action processes that pertain to manufacturing or material deficiencies.
Assures effective implementation of all ECO’s affecting products and production processes at Contract Manufactures.
Partner with Sourcing to establish and manage a supplier management program.
Communicate quality program status and progress to management and key suppliers.
Represent and report on Manufacturing Quality at management meetings.
Coordinate with the engineering design and Manufacturing Engineering teams and testing department (responsibilities may expand to include materials/process evaluation testing).
Act as a gatekeeper during the New Product Introduction process to ensure that design choices and chosen materials/processes meet quality criteria within production prior to advancing to next stage.
Monitor adherence to quality and safety certification standards.
Other duties as required
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering, Business or Industrial Technology or equivalent experience
Must have at least 8 plus years of progressive experience in design and manufacturing of electronic, electromechanical or software products with a focus on quality management in a contract manufacturing or electromechanical assembly environment.
5 years of experience leading, mentoring and coaching individuals and teams.
Solid quantitative skill set and the ability to analyze and communicate with well-supported data.
Knowledge of PCB design capability
An individual critical thinker to strategically align actions to needs and set goals for a technical team for success.
Preferred Qualifications:
Proven budgetary / Cost Control experience / awareness.
Power electronics, consumer electronics or commercial electronics background preferred
Experience working with international companies and in a matrix organization;
Proven experience collaborating with multiple sites and functions to drive common solutions;
Prior experience with hardware certification standards (e.g. UL1741)

: While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk and hear; and use hands to manipulate objects or controls. The employee is regularly required to stand and walk. On occasion the incumbent may be required to stoop, bend or reach above the shoulders. The employee must occasionally lift up to 25 - 50 pounds. Specific conditions of this job are typical of frequent and continuous computer-based work requiring periods of sitting, close vision and ability to adjust focus. Occasional travel.
