SUMMARY
Under general supervision, assist project engineers in the design and development of new and/or modified robotic drawings/documentation. Prepare sketches and complete detail and layout drawings on a variety of complex automated systems. Work with Project Engineers on the development of original designs or adaptations.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Must be able to use multiple features of Yaskawa Motoman ERP system including the Case Entry and Engineering Workbench modules in Epicor. Familiarity with Windchill is a plus.
Review customer specifications and documentation for design requirements.
Must be able to follow ISO procedures as the job requires, and provide feedback to improve our processes.
Prepare detailed and comprehensive layouts and generate bills of material.
Evaluate component sizes, weights, tolerances and characteristics to meet design requirements and cost objectives.
Attend Design Review meetings.
Recommend improvements and incorporate necessary changes into robotic system designs.
Prepare complete and accurate production release drawings using AutoCAD, SolidWorks, Solid Edge, and/or EPlan.
Participate with project engineer to analyze and resolve problems with existing robotic systems.
Recommend design changes as required.
Obtain accumulate and review technical data from various sources.
Evaluate designs for compliance with industry standards.
Perform various related engineering duties to assure satisfactory fulfillment of contract or project requirements.
May guide, train and review the work of drafting personnel and engineering co-ops.
Travel required on an infrequent basis. Must have a valid driver's license and full coverage automobile insurance.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE An Associates Degree and two to three years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience. Requires machine/system design and AutoCAD drafting experience, a working knowledge of SolidWorks and/or Solid Edge. Experience with EPlan is desired.
OTHER SKILLS & ABILITIES Ability to use computers to supplement design efforts and have an understanding of manufacturing processes is desirable. Skill set may include 3D system integration or engineering practices. Must be team oriented.
Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions and procedure manuals. Ability to read, comprehend and follow complicated verbal instructions. Understand and utilize the design and drafting ISO standards. Requires good analytical skills with computer aided design and knowledge or geometric tolerancing.
Work requires ingenuity to plan and implement tasks under general supervision, to examine advanced subjects, to use some independent judgment required to make decision of an administrative nature.
