Materials Manager
responsible for material & production planning, inventory control, and shipping/receiving departments.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES :Establish departmental goals and objectives that provide world-class materials performance to the organizationProactively lead the materials team to continuously improve processes and proceduresLead ongoing organization development activitiesLead & perform material planning activities from raw materials to finished goodsOwn and drive day-to-day planning, inventory control, and deliveryLead & perform all logistic activities to ensure the best pricing on the shipping of goods & timely deliveries to domestic and international customersCycle countingEstablish and track meaningful departmental reports/measurementsAnalyze reports, measurements and external benchmarks to identify opportunities for continuous improvementPerform other duties as assignedPlanning & Scheduling
Create and meet the annual Master Production Schedule (MPS). Run Visual MRP and SchedulerSchedule material demands and work order completion dates in the system to support the production scheduleProactively manage material and work order exceptions and provide feedback to Manufacturing & Product Management on critical information.Inventory Management & Control
Minimize overall inventory value and increase turnsEnsure the accuracy of data in the system including location, quantity on hand, value, etc.Create procedures and reporting for the effective management of inventoryLead periodic cycle counting and annual wall-to-wall serial inventoriesShipping & Receiving
Ensure all customer orders are appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentationEnsure all outsourced manufacturing is appropriately packaged and shipped promptly, accurately and with all necessary documentationSUPERVISORY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Oversee Shipping, Warehouse, & Receiving Supervisor, Planners, and other personnel directly related to inventory, shipping and receiving.
QUALIFICATIONS :
Expertise in systems implementation, organization development, planning, logistics and best practicesStrong planning, organizational, analytical, and communication skills are requiredTeam attitude; eager to cooperate with others with exceptional interpersonal communication skillsAbility to change direction and handle multiple responsibilities and tasks regularlyAbility to positively motivate individuals and teams to meet or exceed expectationsLeadership skills with the ability to effectively delegate work to subordinates, and the ability to evaluate and positively influence performanceExceptionally high level of commitment to the success of individuals and overall projectsVerbal and written communication skills, including presenting and facilitating team meetingsTeam player with high levels of professionalism, integrity, and enthusiasmEDUCATION/EXPERIENCE :
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college in business administration, material management, accounting, or similar or equivalentFive to ten (5-10) years of experience in a similar manufacturing environment with extensive experience in planning, inventory, shipping/receiving and MRP systemsCompetent with computer software such as Visual Manufacturing (or similar MRP system), Microsoft Office, Excel, and Crystal Reports. Solid understanding of spreadsheet applications
