HARCUM COLLEGE in Bryn Mawr, PA, a leader among the nation's independent associate degree colleges, is currently seeking adjunct instructors for the Fall 2024 semester. The Fashion Merchandising Department of Harcum College is seeking PART-TIME (adjunct) INSTRUCTORS for two courses: RET105 Retail Consumers and RET111Retail Management These fifteen-week courses meet twice a week.
RET105 Retail Consumers
This course is ideal for fashion, marketing and business students looking to enhance their understanding of consumer behavior for more effective marketing and business strategies. Through a combination of lectures, readings, case studies, and group projects, students will gain both theoretical knowledge and practical skills in consumer behavior analysis and application.
RET111 Retail Management
Explore the dynamic world of retail with our Retail Fundamentals course. This program equips students with a comprehensive understanding of retail operations, customer service, the role of technology in retail, and career opportunities within the industry. It provides essential preparation for the National Retail Federation (NRF) certification exam. Whether you're a retail professional or an aspiring newcomer, this course offers the skills and knowledge needed to succeed in the fast-paced retail environment.

PRIMARY RESPONSIBILITIES:
Create an effective learning environment designed to engage diverse student learners and promote positive student-instructor interactions.
Conduct classroom activities that consistently support course learning outcomes and promote active student participation.
Grade student work, provide detailed and timely feedback to students, connect students to appropriate resources, and maintain accurate records of student progress.
Foster a safe environment that respects the diversity of individuals and ideas by modeling respect for all students and conveying confidence in every student's ability to learn.
SALARY RANGE
$2000-$2100 per course
QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor's degree in a related discipline or Associate's degree with substantial industry experience
At least two years of retail experience at a management level
Some teaching experience preferred
Experience with a diverse student population is desired.
Excellent interpersonal skills and ability to communicate with diverse group of
staff and students.
Motivation to teach and mentor students at the college level and promote student success
Ability to facilitate a positive and engaging learning environment that fosters creative and critical thinking
