Job Duties and Responsibilities
This Staff Accountant position is part of the General Ledger Group within the DISH Accounting Department. Among other things, this group records and analyzes various revenue streams of DISH, including TV and internet programming subscriptions, equipment sales and advertising and wireless business. Additional responsibilities include Rev Share accruals, Prepaid adjustments, Marketing accounting, as well as ad hoc projects. This role will work with various departments at DISH in order to provide accurate and timely financial reporting.
Key Responsibilities:
Performing monthly close duties to include preparing journal entries, variance reporting, reconciliations, and account analyses
Engaging with several departments at DISH including Programming, Sling TV, Customer Experience, Marketing, Billing and Retail Services to understand their business and apply proper accounting to their transactions and initiatives
Providing exceptional customer service to departments such as Finance, Billing and Credit, Agent Experience and Training, Programming and other internal Accounting groups
Creating/improving operational and accounting internal controls and developing efficiency improvements
Complying with and updating documented processes and procedures and supporting external and internal SOX, financial and operational audits
Skills, Experience and Requirements
Education and Experience:
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance
3+ years Accounting experience including month-end / year-end close and Financial Statement preparation
Skills and Qualifications:
Thorough understanding of key accounting concepts and GAAP and SOX
Proficiency in Microsoft Office (especially Excel and Access) and Google Suite, and familiarity with large ERP systems such as Oracle
Proficiency in SQL query writing and data analytics
Ability to read and interpret legal contracts to properly apply accounting treatment to the economic aspects of the agreements

Salary Ranges
Compensation: $63,150.00/Year - $90,000.00/Year
