General Job Description The Production Assistant Manager is crucial that overseeing the production process, ensuring efficiency, and supporting the Production Manager. The Production Assistant Manager oversees all aspects of the production process, from planning and scheduling to execution and delivery. They are responsible for ensuring that production meets quality and efficiency standards. The Production Assistant Manager is responsible for managing the activities of the production floor and leads team members to identify, manage, and execute the plant’s process improvement opportunities to attain production and quality goals. Able to identify problems or bottlenecks in production processes and resolve issues. Ensures production resources, including materials, equipment, safety and environment are available to maintain production schedules. Supports continuous improvement goals in safety, environment, quality, cost, and customer service. Total Quality management is a joint effort of management and team members in order to exceed customer satisfaction levels. Responsibilities: Assist in planning, organizing, and monitoring production schedules to meet targets and deadlines. Coordinate with various departments such as procurement, logistics, and quality control to ensure smooth workflow. Develop and implement production schedules, ensuring timely completion of orders while optimizing resources and minimizing downtime. Plan and coordinate production activities, including material procurement, equipment maintenance, and staffing requirements. Monitor and analyze production metrics to identify areas for improvement and implement strategies for productivity and efficiency. Collaborate with cross-functional teams, such as procurement, engineering, and quality assurance, to resolve production issues, improve processes, and meet customer expectations. Train, and supervise production staff, providing guidance and support for their professional development. Implement and maintain effective inventory management practices to optimize stock levels and minimize waste. Oversee equipment maintenance and troubleshoot any technical issues to minimize downtime and ensure smooth production flow. Ensure compliance with the required schedule in the assigned area. Ensure conformance to process controls. Drive and oversee root cause analysis and corrective actions. Drive and oversee process improvement activities for Production Floor. Serve as a resource in plant investigation of customer problems/issues. Interface with customers and suppliers as appropriate. Oversee manning levels and ensure compliance with budget. Ensure communication throughout the Production Floor and other departments by maintaining crossover meeting integrity. Interact with the Engineering Department on equipment tryouts, job configuration, and standards. Ensure that ISO/IATF standards are being followed throughout the facility. Oversee proper documentation response (i.e., process changes, SPC conditions, First/Last Shot/Part, 8D’s, production numbers, etc.) Participate in activities to achieve quality, productivity, scrap, and cost reduction goals. Oversee and adhere to all company missions, values, policies, and procedures (i.e., quality policy manual, associate handbook, etc.) Oversee compliance to required OSHA, environmental and ergonomic regulations, and all internal safety procedures. Maintain high housekeeping standards in respective areas, including the production floor, machines, behind the plant, packing/WIP, and coordination at the press. Carrying out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the company’s policies and applicable laws. Track production performance metrics and report on key performance indicators (KPIs) to management. Minimum Qualifications or Requirements: Bachelor’s degree in engineering, or a related field (or equivalent experience). Minimum of 3 years of experience in production, preferably in a manufacturing or industrial setting. Strong knowledge of manufacturing processes, production planning, and quality control. Ability to organize manufacturing processes and production plans for new factory. Excellent leadership and communication skills to effectively manage and motivate a diverse production team. Strong leadership and team management skills. Excellent problem-solving and decision-making abilities. Ability to plan and coordinate many projects simultaneously. Attention to detail and a focus on quality management. Knowledge of health and safety regulations in a manufacturing environment. Knowledge of ISO 9001/14001 and IATF16949 requirements Experience in quality system auditing (internal audits) a plus Implementing industry regulations Proficient in using production management software and tools. Effective communication and interpersonal skills. Proficient in Microsoft Office. Must be willing to travel. Preferred Qualifications: 5 years’ experience on production management or related field. Understanding of OSHA, ISO and IATF are preferable. Understanding of Compression molding process and plastic composite materials Strong project management skills, including planning, execution, and reporting. Experience managing capital projects, budget preparation, and cost control. Experience with Lean manufacturing or Six Sigma methodologies (preferred).
