Job Description:
- Provides competent clinical nursing care consistent with professional standards.- Coordinates and delivers patient care utilizing the nursing process in a hospital setting.- Participates in identifying and meeting learning needs of self.- Attends education programs based on identified learning needs.- Uses patient education materials relevant to patient population.- Assesses readiness to learn of the patient/family/caregivers and developmental level of patient.- Identifies expected patient outcomes and participates in plan of care revision as needed.- Engages with the interdisciplinary team in evaluating patient care to promote continuity.- Demonstrates competence in caring for patients with complex problems, including physical, psychosocial, educational, and safety aspects of care.- Performs bedside point-of-care testing as required.- Organizes and prioritizes care according to patient/family needs.- Consults with appropriate resources for patients with complex care issues or high-risk discharge planning.- Develops goals to promote professional growth with assistance.- Achieves goals within identified time frames or renegotiates with supervisor.- Collaborates in unit goals and performance improvement activities.- Promotes a safe, clean, and secure hospital environment.- Recognizes data from complex situations to set care priorities.- Synthesizes assessment data before communicating to others.- Collaborates with patient/family in preparing or updating the care plan.- Utilizes multidisciplinary resources in care planning.- Identifies and addresses cultural and ethnic issues in patient care planning.- Reads relevant journals to bring new ideas and questions to staff for practice improvement.
