ULI offers an exciting opportunity for a seasoned business development leader to make a significant impact. This role provides a rewarding total cash compensation package, with a base salary plus incentives up to $188,000, and the chance to work alongside industry leaders. POSITION SUMMARY:As Vice President, Business Development, you will drive ULI’s corporate engagement efforts, reporting to the Senior Vice President for Corporate Partnerships & Strategy. In this dynamic position, you will be the go-to resource for managing high-value corporate relationships, aligning ULI’s core initiatives with the interests of corporate partners, and seizing opportunities to expand ULI’s network of supporters. Your success will contribute to ULI’s influence and visibility as you build, negotiate, and sustain long-term partnerships.

We seek a proactive leader skilled in communication, sales, and strategic thinking, with a passion for fostering high-impact relationships and navigating the complexities of corporate fundraising. The right candidate will bring a polished presence, adaptability, and thrive in a fast-paced, collaborative environment.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES:

Business Development

Develop and execute a forward-looking business development and account management strategy that:

Drives revenue to meet ambitious targets.

Cultivates a sustained partner base in close coordination with ULI’s relationship management teams.

Expands corporate engagement in alignment with ULI’s strategic priorities.

Cultivate and manage high-level, strategic relationships with corporate partners, delivering exceptional service that reinforces ULI’s brand.

Conduct prospect research, initiate sales calls, and hold face-to-face meetings to engage potential donors and partners, achieving high revenue goals.

Manage an eight-figure annual sales budget across various revenue streams.

Organizational Leadership

Lead and mentor a growing team of business development professionals, currently with two direct reports and potential for expansion based on success.

Act as a senior leader within the Corporate Partnerships & Strategy group, fostering collaboration with ULI’s senior leadership across content, membership, and marketing.

QUALIFICATIONS:Our ideal candidate is an ambitious, results-oriented leader with a strong background in business development and account management, particularly with high-value corporate partners. You’ll bring excellent strategic planning, time management, and organizational skills, alongside an ability to inspire and lead teams.

Bachelor’s degree required.

15–20 years in business development/account management, with at least 10 years in a leadership capacity.

Proven track record in securing seven-figure corporate/foundation investments.

Demonstrated expertise in developing partnership strategies that enhance organizational revenue.

Highly effective communication and proposal-writing skills with a history of success.

Ability to connect with senior executives and engage them in mutually beneficial relationships.

Familiarity with commercial real estate, land use, and the built environment is advantageous.

Hybrid role based in downtown Washington, DC, with two to three days in the office weekly.

Up to 25% travel, including attendance at ULI’s annual Spring and Fall conferences.
