Position SummaryGEICO is seeking an experienced Engineer with a passion for building high-performance, low maintenance, zero-downtime platforms, and applications. You will help drive our insurance business transformation as we transition from a traditional IT model to a tech organization with engineering excellence as its mission, while co-creating the culture of psychological safety and continuous improvement.Position DescriptionOur Senior Engineer is a key member of the engineering staff working across the organization to provide a friction-less experience to our developer community and maintain the highest standards of protection and availability. The ideal candidate has broad and deep technical knowledge, typically ranging from front-end UIs through back-end systems and all points in between.Position ResponsibilitiesScope, design, and build scalable, resilient distributed systemsEngage in cross-functional collaboration throughout the entire software lifecycleInfluence and build vision with product managers, team members, customers, and other engineering teams to solve complex problems for building enterprise class business applicationsBuild product definition and leverage your technical skills to drive towards the right solutionLead in design sessions and code reviews to elevate the quality of engineering across the organizationDefine, create, and support reusable application components/patterns from a business and technology perspectiveUtilize programming languages like GO, Java, Typescript, React, HTML, Python, C# or other object-oriented languages, SQL, and NoSQL databases, Container Orchestration services including Docker and Kubernetes, and a variety of Azure tools and servicesMentor other engineersConsistently share best practices and improve processes within and across teamsQualificationsAdvanced programming experience with at least two modern languages such as GO, Java, C++, Python or C# including object-oriented designExperience building products of micro-services oriented architecture and extensible REST APIsExperience building micro frontendsExperience building the architecture and design of new and current systems (architecture, design patterns, reliability, and scaling)Experience writing highly complex YAML pipeline/workflow code in GitHubExperience writing highly complex docker files or other containerization technologies such as Podman, Kaniko, containerd, etc.Experience writing highly complex YAML code for containers orchestration on different compute platformsExperience with continuous delivery and infrastructure as codeAdvanced understanding of DevOps Concepts, Cloud Architecture and Azure DevOps Operational FrameworkExperience in leveraging PowerShell scriptingExperience in Datacenter structure, capabilities, and offerings, including the Azure platform and its native servicesAdvanced understanding of security protocols and products: understanding of Azure Active, Directory, Active Directory, Windows Authentication, SAML, OAuthIn-depth knowledge of CS data structures and algorithmsKnowledge of developer tooling across the software development life cycle (task management, source code, building, deployment, operations, real-time communication)Strong problem-solving abilityAbility to excel in a fast-paced, startup-like environmentExperience4+ years of professional platform development or general development experience3+ years of experience with architecture and design3+ years of experience with AWS, GCP, Azure, or another cloud service2+ years of experience in open-source frameworksEducationBachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems, or equivalent education or work experienceAnnual Salary$75,000.00 - $230,000.00The above annual salary range is a general guideline. Multiple factors are taken into consideration to arrive at the final hourly rate/ annual salary to be offered to the selected candidate.
