Position: Network Administrator Agency: Information Technology Services
Minimum Qualifications:
Bachelor's Degree from four-year college or university; and four (4) years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Additional Qualifications (Agency/Dept. Qualifications):
Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, network protocols and design concepts. Knowledge of creating and executing an incident response plan, including identifying, containing and mitigating security breaches. Familiarity with logging and monitoring tools (e.g. SIEM systems) to track user activity, detect anomalies and investigate potential security incidents. Managing user access using systems like Active Directory, LDAP and multi-factor authentication (MFA). Valid driver's license.
Hours: 8:00 a.m. -- 5:00 p.m., Monday -- Friday, 35 hours per week
Salary: $80,000 - $85,000 annually depending on qualifications
Summary:
Manages applications, implements policies, and configures hardware for monitoring, maintaining, supporting, and securing the voice and data network.
Duties:
· Collaborates within the network team, supporting the Senior Network Administrator on architecture standards, server consolidation, and network security projects.
· Implements and monitors network security protocols by conducting regular audits, reviewing logs, and assisting other departments with audit questionnaires; identifies and remediates security deficiencies to ensure compliance and safeguard network integrity.
· Manages secure network access, including wireless and VPN configurations, and maintains user accounts in Active Directory.
· Installs, maintains, and repairs hardware and software across departments, troubleshooting and resolving issues on-site as needed.
· Monitors network performance and server health, managing CPU, memory, antivirus, and storage to ensure optimal functionality and high availability.
· Configures network edge equipment, VLANs, and applies updates for performance and security.
· Implements and enforces layered security policies (e.g., antivirus, URL filtering) and prepares confidential usage reports as required.
· Supports business continuity and disaster recovery, including proactive measures to ensure 24/7 public safety and telecommunications availability; remains accessible after hours and takes immediate action during outages.
· Maintains documentation on configurations, policies, and procedures for network administration and security.
· Provides helpdesk support during peak times, assisting users with hardware, software, network, and phone issues; logs actions taken to resolve each issue.
· Demonstrates reliable attendance and adherence to schedule requirements.
· Ensures safety compliance, attends training, and stays updated on industry practices.
