Direct Counsel is seeking an Energy Regulatory Litigation Associate to join a high-profile energy regulatory team at a top Am Law 100 firm in Washington, D.C.

This opportunity is ideal for an associate attorney passionate about energy regulation, litigation, and sustainable infrastructure, with strong experience in complex litigation and regulatory compliance.About the Energy Regulatory PracticeThe firm’s Energy Regulatory team operates within its Energy Transition & Sustainable Infrastructure Practice, offering clients insightful, detailed counsel on regulatory compliance and creative problem-solving. The team’s expertise is enhanced by prior experience with government regulators, including the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) and Regional Transmission Organizations, enabling it to represent clients in high-stakes regulatory and litigation matters before FERC, state utility commissions, and federal appellate courts.ResponsibilitiesThe associate will:Work on energy regulatory and litigation matters, representing a variety of clients, including project developers, independent power producers, private equity and infrastructure funds, and clean energy trade groups.Handle complex litigation tasks, including legal research, drafting, discovery, and document production.Represent clients in proceedings before FERC, state commissions, and other regulatory bodies.Engage in client development activities, including contributing to publications, attending speaking engagements, and supporting the growth of the practice.QualificationsJD or LLM from an ABA-accredited law school.Admission (or eligibility for admission) in Washington, D.C., is preferred.Minimum of 2 years of energy regulatory and litigation experience, with prior work before FERC highly valued.Strong written and oral communication skills.High level of professionalism and ability to manage competing priorities effectively.Exceptional attention to detail, organizational skills, and a collaborative team-oriented approach.About the FirmThis Am Law 100 firm, with over 500 attorneys, is globally recognized for its industry and legal insights.
