Zendar
Field Operations Technician / Test Driver - full-time
Zendar, Berkeley, California, United States, 94709
About Zendar
Zendar develops high-resolution radar imaging systems that enable next-generation safety features and driver-assistance technology that is reliable in all conditions and at sufficiently long range for high speed driving. Zendar has pioneered software-defined radar technology which fuses data streams from multiple sensors to build a more accurate scene and utilizes artificial intelligence models that interpret RF spectrum to understand the environment.
Zendar is headquartered in Berkeley, CA and has additional engineering offices in Germany and France.
Zendar has a diverse and dynamic team of electrical, mechanical, RF, algorithms and software engineers with a deep background in sensing technology. Backed by leading VCs and automotive Tier-1s, Zendar has raised more than $50M in funding and has established strong partnerships with industry leaders. Our team has more than doubled in number over the last year as our technology has gained traction.
Your Role
We are developing radar perception AI models that allow radar sensors to understand the world around them. With modern AI-based perception, radar can be used in safety, comfort, and autonomy applications in passenger cars. Because training AI models is very data hungry, data collection is a key underpinning of our ability to develop these technologies.
In this role, you will be participating in our AI perception model development efforts by operating our data collection car. This car is equipped with multiple radar, lidar, and camera sensors which collect real-world data. Through this effort, you will be exposed to the sensor setup and data collection strategies that underpin real-world AI development. You will get a chance to see and influence how we decide what data to collect, how this data is obtained, stored, and processed, and how this improves the quality of our perception models.
The data collection car is controlled through a Linux-based server and a web UI. You will be responsible for operating this system and driving the vehicle on pre-defined local routes for regular acquisition and testing periods throughout the week. Some basic Linux familiarity and knowledge of how to clone and build Github repos is necessary to operate the system. You may be required to troubleshoot issues that you encounter and report issues to the engineering team.
Key Responsibilities
Responsible for driving & performing data collection.Perform basic troubleshooting of software issues encountered in the field.Reference maps, dashboards, and schedules to plan your data collection routes.Support maintaining the collection vehicle.
What We Look For
Comfortable driving for extended periodsExperience working with computer hardware and softwareFamiliarity with professional software development tools and scripting languages, such as git and bashStrong communication and cross-functional collaboration skillsA valid California driver’s licenseStrong sense of ownership and eagerness to learn
What We Offer
Opportunity to make an impact at a young, venture-backed company in an emerging marketCompetitive salary ranging from $50-80K annually depending on experiencePerformance based BonusBenefits including medical, dental, and vision insurance, 401k plan, and equityDaily catered lunch and a stocked fridge (when working in the Berkeley, CA office)
Zendar participates in E-Verify.
Zendar is committed to creating a diverse environment where talented people come to do their best work. We are proud to be an equal opportunity employer.
