Downtown Music Publishing is seeking an experienced and strategic Business Development, Vice President. The individual should have a strong and diverse existing network which they'll be able to leverage immediately. The primary responsibility will be identifying, connecting with, and converting high-value rightsholders (creators, labels, publishers, etc.) and their representatives into Downtown Music Publishing clients. This role will also be responsible for representing Downtown across various industry events within the community in order to establish the brand's position and authority within the market.
What you'll be doing:
Identify publishing administration opportunities focusing on the top two tiers of a strategic structure and working in line with identified client types
Coordinate opportunities for high level business development presentations for managers, lawyers, and other potential partners to be taken with Downtown key executives across designated focus markets
Reveal high level sub-publishing opportunities, strategic partnerships, and other B2B projects that would benefit from our suite of services
Manage our business development staff in the Americas and coordinate with our global business development teams to strategically canvas the marketplace in an effort to drive revenue via new signings
Partner with our creative and catalog teams to introduce potential collaborators for value-add executions for our existing roster
Introduce strategic partners who have the potential to enhance team workflows
Identify key cross-selling opportunities across the Downtown businesses and service offerings
You have:
7+ years of direct experience in music industry business development roles
Expansive network across outbound deal brokers in the music publishing space
Proven project management skills that support moving a deal to close, from opportunity generation to final negotiation
Demonstrated team leadership skills that touch on strategic deployment of staff as well as a commitment to mentoring
Hands-on experience prospecting, engaging, and closing leads
Understanding of sales performance metrics
Excellent communication and negotiation skills. Ability to deliver engaging presentations
Familiarity with G-suite
Stay current on trends in music publishing, copyright law, and the evolving music rights landscape, including changes in streaming, digital licensing, and global markets.

Paid Volunteer Hours
Downtown provides base salary ranges for all positions located in the United States at the time of posting. The hiring range for this position is $130,000-$150,000 annually. As a candidate for this position, your salary and related elements of compensation will be contingent upon various factors including, but not limited to, work experience, geographic location and relevant skills. Downtown is committed to providing a comprehensive market-competitive total rewards program for its employees which includes medical, dental, and vision, life insurance, 401(k) match and generous paid time off. This range does not include any other variable compensation components.
