Engineering and licensed Professional Engineer and/or equivalent registration from home country.MBA or other graduate level college degree is a plusExperience in managing global operations in a fast-paced and changing environment; must enjoy working with field managers, learning about field operations, and be comfortable in an operations environment.Strong operational-level and tactical-level skills to allow for the analysis of operations, streamlining procedures, ensuring adherence to standards, etc., while also demonstrating a strategic perspective by anticipating future issues and trends.Maritime experience a major plus; transportation-related experience a plusMilitary experience a plus.Hands-on experience in logistics, mechanics, or workshop management a plus.Bi-lingual English and Spanish capabilities a plus.Have a high level of energy, a positive attitude, and a servant style of leadership.Must demonstrate a clear talent for understanding, motivating and inspiring subordinates, other colleagues, union colleagues, customers, vendors, and other key stakeholders.Requires critical thinking skills, communication skills (verbal and written) and interpersonal skills.Well-developed sense of business acumen and a track record of sound business judgment.

Essential Job Responsibilities:Summary/Objective:The

Director-Civil Engineering and Projects

is responsible for terminal design, civil works and traffic related projects across the global Carrix organization.This leader will report directly to our Vice President, Chief Engineer and must be a team player willing to partner with corporate colleagues and union members to improve safety, optimize company financial performance, while advancing the company's environmental, social, and environmental goals.Essential Responsibilities:Reviews performance against operating plans and standards; manages and provides feedback to subordinates, colleagues, and the overall organization on departmental performance vs. target goals.Identifies training needs, initiates development of subordinates, and recommends effective personnel action.Partners with colleagues in procurement to select the most qualified and cost-efficient vendors to supply needed services and/or equipment. Establishes relationships with key vendors and customers to assist in the accomplishment of key goals.Creates systems and process to ensure the proper orientation and on-the-job training for subordinates and ensures that the authority and responsibility for each position are defined and understood. Identifies and implements training and other developmental activities for subordinates and other colleagues.Leads in a manner that creates a "Safety First" attitude within own department and across the entire organization.Other duties as requested
