Apogee is seeking a

Systems Operations, Cloud Engineer

for the Army Analytics Group (AAG) located in

Fairfield, CA.AAG is a Joint Operation that provides primary support to the Army and secondary support to DOD components. It maintains an integrated Cloud infrastructure consisting of development, test, training, user acceptance, production, as well as other types of environments. Operations contract support is required to provide services for enterprise information technology operations and maintenance support.The environment hosts numerous types of applications, which are broad in scope and can cover all Uniformed Services, all components of the Total Force (Active, Guard, Reserve, and Civilian), Federal and critical DOD operations throughout the world. The applications supported include domains such as logistical, financial, personnel, organizational and analytical domains.This is a full-time position and is

fully remote

with up to 5% travel to Fairfield, CA during onboarding or based on business needs.Job Summary:Works to complete the standard cloud services tasks within the cloud environment as a platform as a service (PaaS), reviewing requests for access, and troubleshooting for enterprise services integration. Designs and defines DoD, DISA and Army compliant system architectures for new or existing computer systems for a data center and cloud environment to manage the VDSS stack per Secure Cloud Computing Architecture requirements. Maintain images for enterprise deployment and use by developing release notes on a monthly basis for core supported images. Designs and implements enclave connections between customer locations. Provides professional services support for customers migrating to a government cloud environment (Azure, milCloud(r) 2.0, AWS GovCloud, etc.). Collaborates across internal teams and works with customers to assess and evaluate DISA compliant cloud migration configurations, best practices, and recommended technical approaches. Writes technical documentation and user cloud-based knowledge to run projects within the cloud build-out services.What you'll be doing:Design and Architecture:

Develop and implement cloud-based solutions, ensuring they meet performance, scalability, and security requirements.Create architecture diagrams and deployment plans for Azure cloud infrastructure.Evaluate and recommend Azure services for specific business needs.Deployment and Configuration:

Provision and configure Azure resources such as Virtual Machines (VMs), Virtual Networks, and Storage accounts.Automate deployment processes using tools like Azure Resource Manager (ARM) templates, Terraform, or PowerShell scripts.Security Management:

Implement security best practices, including identity and access management (IAM) using Azure Active Directory (AD).Monitor and configure network security groups, firewalls, and encryption methods.Ensure compliance with relevant security standards and regulations.Monitoring and Optimization:

Monitor Azure resources for performance issues using tools like Azure Monitor and Azure Application Insights.Analyze and optimize cost efficiency by managing resource utilization and implementing cost-saving measures.Ensure high availability and disaster recovery plans are in place, including backups and failover mechanisms.Troubleshooting and Support:

Provide technical support for Azure infrastructure, including diagnosing and resolving issues.Work closely with development and operations teams to ensure smooth cloud operations.Respond to incidents and outages, performing root cause analysis.Documentation and Reporting:

Maintain detailed documentation of cloud architecture, processes, and procedures.Provide regular reports on cloud performance, security, and cost management to stakeholders.Collaboration and Training:

Collaborate with cross-functional teams, including DevOps, security, and network engineers, to deliver cloud solutions.Stay updated with the latest Azure technologies and provide training or guidance to team members on best practices.Clearance:

Must have and be able to maintain a Secret level clearance (interim Secret okay)Certifications:Level II AIT/8570 Compliant (Security plus or equivalent)Cloud certification in Azure (Intro to Azure or DevSecOps, etc.)Education:

11 years as System Operation or Infrastructure Experience5 years Cloud experienceExperience writing terraform scriptsExperience working in a DoD/DISA compliant physical data center and cloud environmentProgramming/Scripting Language Experience and knowledge of checking your code into cloud PipelinePreferred Requirements:Education:

Bachelor’s degree or higherExperience:

$100,000 to $160,000

across the U.S. There is a different range applicable for specific work locations.
