The Area Vice President will partner closely with our COEs focused on Advisor Growth, Practice Growth, and Advice Adoption (Matrix Partners) to ensure Thrivent drives productive capacity growth by attracting, selecting, onboarding, and launching talent into Thrivent. These Area VPs will also work with experienced practices to grow their advisor capacity and their ability to serve clients. This role is responsible for driving total sales for their area that contribute to Thrivent’s overall growth goals of capacity and total sales. The AVP must possess strong skills to execute a strategy and a proven track record of driving growth and fostering a culture of engagement. Your role will be instrumental in building brand awareness, expanding the client base, and establishing the organization as a trusted leader in the local areas. Collaborate seamlessly within a matrix organizational structure, fostering synergy across departments and leveraging diverse expertise to achieve collective goals.The AVP would support Arkansas, Tennessee, Alabama, Louisiana, and Mississippi.Additional duties and accountabilities:Inspire others with Thrivent’s purpose, promise and principles. The Area VP will grow exceptional leaders, connect with regional communities, build relationships, and identify and pursue growth opportunities. They will provide direct leadership for 5-10 field leaders and 50-100 Financial Advisors serving 100,000 clients.Ensure execution for advice adoption and solutions and sales in their key geographic area(s) for Thrivent. The AVP will be accountable for delivering total sales growth in their area.Monitor and drive results aligned to our key performance indicators (KPIs), financial metrics, and operational benchmarks to assess performance, identify areas for improvement, and drive informed decision-making in the area.Connect matrixed partners within the area to grow diverse advisor and client segments.Attract and launch talent through market leaders within the area to create future team leaders.Encourages experienced advisors to grow their practice capacity with new FAs, grow teams, and create professional practices. The AVP will collaborate well with National Practice Group (NPG) leaders to leverage advanced practices in their geographic area.Collaborates across Thrivent’s ecosystem, National Practice Group, and our advisor continuum and channels (e.g. remote advice, TAN). Top priority for the Area Vice President is to

lead advisor capacity growth

in their key area. The AVP:

Builds a plan to deliver on Thrivent’s capacity growth goals in their area. Partner with other Thrivent leaders including local Community Engagement Leader, Thrivent Member Network, and other partners to develop capacity plan.Holds field leaders accountable for area goals through weekly accountability sessions and coaching 1:1s.Attracts high quality, diverse talent into financial advisor roles, partnering with the Advisor Growth COE for recruiting, licensing, and training; Ensuring new advisors are placed into practices in key areas or markets.Ensures client facing talent is given the advice, solutions and business tools, resources and knowledge needed to be successful.Works to ensure new FAs are connected into Thrivent’s unique affinity marketplace and Christian connections.Foster a positive and collaborative area culture that promotes accountability, innovation, and continuous improvement leading to increased retention.Set clear goals and objectives for the team and develop action plans to achieve them, ensuring alignment with organizational objectives and priorities.

Advice Adoption:

The Area Vice President

ensures execution for advice adoption and solutions

in their assigned key geographic area for Thrivent. The AVP will:

Partner with matrix partners to ensure her/his area (Leaders/Advisors) adopts Thrivent’s advice offerings. New advisors will be trained on and coached around providing advice to their clients. Experienced advisors/practices will be encouraged to adopt Thrivent’s advice offerings. All leaders will be expected to be competent and committed to ensuring they lead their advisors with Thrivent’s advice principles.Ensure strong solutions (both ANBP and investments) are recommended in line with advice recommendations.Deliver strong total sales results in their area.

Practice Growth:

The Area Vice President

encourages experienced advisors to grow teams and create professional practices , The AVP works with practice growth leaders to identify practices looking to add capacity:

Assist practices looking to add talent on their teams to identify roles, responsibilities and talent needs. Connects current candidates to practices for selection. Works with Capacity Growth and Development COE to manage the selection process.Works closely with the Practice Directors serving their Group, the Practice COE, and National Practice Group leadership to leverage the strengths of experienced practices and advanced NPG practices into their area.

Role RequirementsCollege degree, MBA and/or other related advanced education preferred.Demonstrated experience (5+ years) leading in the financial services industry.Strong leadership and potential to move to greater leadership role.Proven track record of achieving capacity and sales growth and delivery of results to business plans.Demonstrated vision and strategic leadership skills along with strong influencing abilities.Experience with effectively leading through change; Passionate about leading on a large scale through others and leveraging systems to engage people and drive results.Talent magnet who can size up every opportunity to draw talent to where it is needed most. Demonstrated track record of attracting, selecting, and developing FAs.In-depth knowledge of advice, insurance products, asset/wealth management, fee-based planning, mutual funds, and securities.FINRA Series 7, 63/65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days, Series 24 preferred.State securities registered and insurance licensed and appointed in all states that comprise the Advisor Group.Once FAs are assigned to this position, this position will require securities registrations, state insurance licenses and appointments in all states where FAs are conducting business and receiving commissions.Satisfactory background check and clean compliance record.Effectively able to represent the Society to its clients, lodges, and in communities.Ability to travel as needed to cover your assigned area and markets, Thrivent, and industry functions.Insurable under both the Society’s applicable fidelity bond and errors and omissions coverage.Must have satisfactory Form U-4 disclosures.To effectively create and maintain culture, the job requires you to physically work in the designated Area 85% of the time.Pay TransparencyThrivent’s long-term growth depends on attracting, rewarding, and retaining people who are committed to helping others thrive with purpose. We accomplish this by offering a wide variety of market competitive compensation programs to attract, reward, and retain top talent. Compensation for this role is based on base, bonus and incentives. The applicable base range for this full-time role is $130,000 - $180,000 per year which will be dependent upon performance and factors in various geographic regions.
