National Practice Director

The National Practice Director coaches Thrivent’s National Practice group’s sophisticated practices to drive transformational growth. Focus will be placed on advanced practice management, business management, leader development and capacity and revenue growth using Thrivent’s Financial Planning Framework. Accountable for moving teams through various milestones along the advanced teaming continuum.
This person will lead growth strategies for a group of 15-20 advanced team practices, supported by expert staff, and dedicated corporate resources. The National Practice Director provides one-on-one coaching and team execution on advanced teaming business models, strategic planning, leader development, business analytics, and capacity and revenue growth. The successful National Practice Director will develop, foster and implement a culture of learning and development in one-on-one group settings. They will be true change-agents in helping high performing, high potential practices embrace the need for change to take their businesses to the next level as well as drive adoption of key success factors.
This can be a remote position within the US.DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:Implement teaming and practice management solutions coaching 15-20 NPG practices including creation of a strategic, growth business plan.
Work in collaboration with the Centers of Excellence (COEs) and dedicated corporate NPG servicers to broker resources in support of the practice growth needs to deliver on group goals including recommending practices for pilot programs.
Responsible for directing a matrixed team of COE partners, relationship managers, marketing and engagement specialists and practice development specialists.
Facilitate connections with regional directors/development leaders related to JFW and practice sharing opportunities.
Accountable for helping to increase a practice’s total sales, advice adoption, productivity and capacity growth through strategic coaching on leadership, human capital, financial management and client experience.
Coach lead advisors and lead practice operations on effectively leading a financial services org including talent management and holding team members accountable.
Coach on client experience including client service model, marketing and engagement planning, and Thrivent’s Financial Planning Framework (leveraging COE resources as needed).
Assess and attract future internal and external teams for the platform including potential acquisitions.
Identify opportunities for strategic acquisition and succession and leverage the COEs for implementation.
QUALIFICATIONS & SKILLS:Required:Experienced, consultative expert; deep foundational practice management background, advanced teaming structure and coaching experience.
Results oriented, coaches others to success and drives towards goals.
Credible: seen as an expert in what it takes to build and grow successful team practice, business planning, teaming strategies, revenue and client growth, leverage and specialization.
People oriented: comfortable leading, coaching and partnering with others, whether in large groups, small groups or one-on-one settings. Strong “Experienced Advisor/Team as customer” orientation.
Demonstrated experience (15+ years) leading in the financial services industry or related industry at a senior operating level.
Strategic enterprise-level leadership skills along with strong influence and collaboration; able to work across both corporate environment and field to influence and impact results.
Experience with effectively leading through change; Passionate about leading on a large scale, collaborating through others, and leveraging COEs and systems to engage people and drive results.
Experience with advanced teaming practices and practice management, which includes knowledge of establishing legal entities.
Deeply knowledgeable and strong influencer with experienced FAs and practices; able to lead through teaming and practice management. For advanced teams, willing and able to connect them back with their geographic groups.
Passionate about providing advice to clients and possesses in-depth knowledge of advice, insurance products, asset/wealth management, fee-based planning, mutual funds and securities; Ideally will possess CFP, CLF, ChFC or CLU designation.
Talent magnet who is able to size up every opportunity to draw talent to key markets and communities. Demonstrated track record of attracting, selecting and developing talent for advisor practices. Extensive record of success in growing Financial Professionals, field leaders, and office teams.
College Degree in business, management, or related business field or equivalent.
FINRA Series 7, 63 & 65 or 66 required or obtained within 90 days of hire: work closely with centralized supervision.
State insurance licensed and appointed for life, health, accident and variable products in all states in which FAs transact business or attained within 90 days of hire.
Insurable under both the Society’s applicable fidelity bond and errors and omissions coverage.
Ability to effectively travel around the assigned geographic area, occasional commercial travel for meetings, conferences and training.
Must have satisfactory Form U-4 disclosures.
Preferred:Experience leading teams and matrixed relationships.

The applicable salary or hourly wage range for this full-time role is $97,165.00 - $131,458.00 per year, which factors in various geographic regions.
