Overview
Highlight seeks a unique person who can combine instructional design practice with communication and outreach to help qualified small businesses navigate the extramural grants process. This exciting position reports to the Small business Education and Entrepreneurial Development (SEED) organization within the National Institutes of Health (NIH). You will also be responsible for developing relationships with organizations outside of NIH/SEED to foster partnerships and collaborative opportunities.
Responsibilities
Understand and be an integral part of SEED’s mission to accelerate the conversion of scientific discoveries into healthcare solutions by providing resources and support to small businesses and academic innovators.Develop, manage, and facilitate the smooth execution of webinars for small businesses on Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants.Combine instructional design principles with communication strategies to create effective outreach materials such as video tutorials.Provide outreach to educate small businesses about grants and the application process.Develop relationships with external organizations to identify common goals and partnership opportunities.Invite partners to participate in SEED webinars and explore opportunities for SEED to participate in partner events.Assist with other communication and outreach activities, including email campaigns, website content management, and social media engagement.Seek opportunities to expand responsibilities and contribute to the growth of SEED's initiatives.
Qualifications
Five years or more of relatable experience, including working knowledge of Instructional Design principles.Experience in developing and facilitating webinars or virtual events.Proficiency with virtual event platforms such as Zoom.Experience in outreach, partnership development, or community engagement.Familiarity with Small Business Innovation Research (SBIR) and Small Business Technology Transfer (STTR) grants and the application process is a plus.Analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify stakeholder needs and address challenges.Strong writing, editing, and content development skills.Excellent interpersonal and communication skills, both in-person and online.Ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines in a fast-paced environment.Meticulous attention to detail.Knowledge of Section 508 compliance and accessibility standards is a plus.Ability to work collaboratively in a team and communicate effectively.
