Responsibilities
The GIS Specialist I is tasked to independently create, maintain, display and update a comprehensive geographic information system.
* Develop and design analytical programs. * Research and interpret source records and documents. * Write and analyze programming applications. * Plan and sequence processing steps for database creation, application, display and document production. * Develop application documentation, user-training materials, and quality control procedures. * Perform a variety of analytical studies related to the development and implementation of the GIS system. * Make presentations to representatives of other departments regarding GIS system, explaining system hardware and software functions and ensuring that applications are appropriate. * Contribute to the efficiency and effectiveness of the unit's service to its customers by offering suggestions and directing or participating as an active member of a work team. * May be asked to perform other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
* Requires a Bachelor's Degree * Minimum of three (3) years of related experience * A combination of education and pertinent experience may be considered * A valid driver's license is required. Successful out of state candidates must be able to obtain a valid Texas driver's license within 90 days of hire

Application review and the City may also conduct additional skill assessment tests, in addition to the panel interview.
