Job Overview
LPL Financial is hiring an VP, Government Relations, to be based in Washington, DC. This individual will report directly to the Executive Vice President, Chief Advocacy Officer, and will work closely with senior executives and legal counsel on broad legislative and regulatory assignments, as described below.
LPL Financials' Government Relations team, based in Washington, DC, develops and manages the company's public policy, legislative, regulatory and grassroots efforts. It does so by coordinating with internal stakeholders to both assess governmental risks and opportunities and determine the company's position on key policy issues. The team is comprised of members covering federal, state, and local advocacy, public policy and grassroots advocacy.
As VP, Government Relations, the successful candidate will develop and execute comprehensive and integrated strategies for achieving LPL Financials' public policy objectives, ensuring alignment with company priorities. This person will be charged with building and reinforcing trusted relationships with Congress, the Administration, and key stakeholders to support and enhance the company's public profile. In this capacity, this person will also focus on building and maintaining a network of validators through relationships with industry and third-party organizations that shape and influence public policy. She/He will align engagements and deliverables with the strategic and tactical goals of the government relations team and the company
RESPONSIBILITIES
Strategic planning and implementation - Working with the Chief Advocacy Officer to develop strategic plans to support the company's long- and short-term goals. Implement, monitor and adapt the plan as needed including clear goals and other metrics.Policy /Legislative/Regulatory analysis - Stay abreast of current trends and information to anticipate opportunities and risks that emerge. Evaluate pending legislation, policy and regulations; determine impact to company and the industry and help develop the organization's response.Brief company executives and clients on legislative matters and provide guidance or updates.Foster and build positive relationships with strategically important government officials, staff, opinion leaders, third parties, and other external stakeholders.Influence public policy, monitor government initiatives and advocate for specific public policies to advance the company's and client objectives.Represent the company at government forums (official and political) and industry group meetings.Represent employees' political action committee (PAC) at campaign fundraising events.Contribute to preparation of policy briefings, testimony for pending legislative actions, and thought leadership documents.Draft hearing summaries and other written content for distribution to LPL stakeholdersEnsure alignment and coordination with State Government Relations strategy. Forge relationships with industry associations, academics, community leaders, and other stakeholders to add value, stay current and advance the company's interests.Develop in-district events and visits to headquarters by elected officials.Communicate directly with company leadership and our clients.Measure and analyze quantifiable data and use for future planning of public policy initiatives.Support the LPL Financial 50 State Network, as needed.Coordinate LPL financial advisor fly-ins and related logistics.Liaise and coordinate with external consultants.Requirements
6 + years previous work experience in public policy, financial services, or political preferred.Bachelor's degreeCore Competencies
Strong influencing skills and proven ability to manage politically sensitive policy issues.Strong planning, organization, and decision-making capabilities; must be able to prioritize and manage multiple tasks simultaneously, resolve conflicts and solve problems with minimum supervision.Working knowledge of tax, financial services and/or wealth management issues.Demonstrated decision-making, analytical, and problem-solving abilities.Track record of establishing priorities and meeting deadlines.Should have adaptability and willingness to take on a wide variety of new tasks and willingness to work in a fast-paced environment.Detail-oriented.Effective written, presentation and persuasion skills. Ability to communicate with all levels of internal associates, external vendors, and business partners.Ability to work effectively as part of a team.Should have strong interpersonal skills and ability to interact well with members of senior management.Must be willing to travel as needed.Preferences

Pay Range:$147,700.00 - $246,100.00
Actual base salary varies based on factors, including but not limited to, relevant skill, prior experience, education, base salary of internal peers, demonstrated performance, and geographic location.
