The Demand Planning Statistician applies complex predictive analytics using large data to support continuous improvement, decision-making, and operational effectiveness across the Supply Chain. Responsible for predicting Nestle Purina Pet Care’s product demand in North America, the Demand Planning Statistician uses data science techniques to develop and enhance forecast models for the manufacturing plants as well as customer accounts. The Demand Planning Statistician is focused on improving forecast accuracy, reducing forecast bias, increasing customer fulfillment, and predicting changes in customer demand.

Forecasting: Utilize a variety of statistical techniques including regression, ARIMAX, ESM, and other time series methods to develop and improve predictive models. Revise and enhance forecast models by incorporating additional data. Investigate and implement innovative solutions to predict demand at multiple product and customer hierarchies.

Project Consulting: Provide internal data science consulting services. Help business partners identify opportunities and problems that can be addressed through data science solutions. Support small-scale projects from initial ideation through planning, execution, and delivery.

Programming: Automate data acquisition, modeling, and visualization in order to streamline and simplify processes. Clean and transform data to prepare datasets for further analysis. Adhere to programming best practices while working with multiple programming languages.

Advanced Analytics: Apply predictive analytics, optimization, and visualization techniques in order to understand, describe, and predict data. Combine various data inputs (shipment, order, POS, and promotional data) from different external sources (Sales, Marketing, Operations Planning, Customer Facing, and more) as potential predictors of customer demand.

Report building: Design and implement advanced reporting to support business needs.

Review metrics: Implement actions to improve forecast accuracy, bias, and variability to meet demand planning performance targets.

Collaboration: Engage across the demand planning functions to stay in-tune with business performance. Leverage collaborations to challenge models and ways of working for continuous improvement.

Seek to acquire new knowledge in advanced and emerging techniques to implement new approaches.

Communication: Present or provide data and information that educates and informs cross functional stakeholders.

Requirements

Master’s Degree in statistics, analytics, mathematics, or a related field

1+ years’ experience solving business problems with advanced quantitative analysis and data science methodology

The approximate pay range for this position is $80,000 to $115,000. Please note that the pay range provided is a good faith estimate for the position at the time of posting. Final compensation may vary based on factors including but not limited to knowledge, skills and abilities as well as geographic location.
