is seeking an ambitious and talented professional to join our transportation service team in
Houston, Texas
as a Senior Project Manager. This is an opportunity to join Westwood's highly experienced and dynamic team dedicated to providing high-level professional services to our clients. Our ideal candidate will have 10+ years of diverse roadway design and project management experience supporting public sector infrastructure transportation design projects. This position is responsible for complex engineering design tasks as well as marketing, business development, client contact and sustained growth of a transportation design team in our growing Houston, Texas office.Duties and Responsibilities
Manage the design and delivery of multi-discipline projects in a profitable manner.
Supervise the work of project managers and engineers.Assist Office Leadership with the implementation of the 3-year strategic plan.Develop project work plans and budget projections and effectively deploy resources.Review, interpret and act on business metrics including utilization, backlog, work in process and account receivables.Prepare, maintain, and coordinate schedules of multiple concurrent projects and complex long-term projects.Develop and track milestones to ensure on-time and on-budget delivery.Complete monthly project accounting and invoicing.Implement and maintain QA/QC procedures.Participate in contract bidding, provide limited observation during construction, review submittal's and RFIs.Resolve design conflicts and field construction issues.Represent clients and firm in meetings with governmental agencies.Write proposals, prepare qualification packages, and lead interviews.Recruit, grow, mentor and train staff.Build relationships internally and externally with clients and strategic partners.Lead business development activities.Negotiate contract terms and conditions with TxDOT and other governmental entities.Ensures division, regional, and company values, policies and practices are consistently followed within the survey service.Lead by example - display solid judgement, good values, trust, honesty, openness, and professionalism.Required Skills
Outgoing, friendly, approachableExcellent verbal, written and interpersonal skillsProficient in Microsoft Office applicationsAbility to manage staff and direct resources effectivelyAbility to effectively communicate at all levels of the organizationDemonstrated ability to successfully manage complex transportation design projects in a profitable mannerDemonstrated ability to successfully manage projects under the TxDOT delivery processExtensive knowledge of geometric design and other related elementsKnowledge and experience with the full roadway project life-cycle from preliminary studies through final design and letting.General knowledge of construction with experience providing construction phase servicesTrack record of successfully winning and delivering projectsExperience developing and implementing marketing pursuit strategiesDemonstrated ability to develop relationships with peers, clients, and public agency staffAbility to coach and motivate othersDetail-oriented but also flexible enough to be big picture / conceptualRequired Experience
BS in Civil EngineeringLicensed Professional Civil Engineer (PE) in Texas10+ years of progressive experience in transportation design and project managementThis position may require travel to project sites and other Westwood offices throughout the United States
