OverviewThe Senior Director, Accounting will lead the financial close function for consolidated GD-OTS including primary responsibility for monthly, quarterly and annual reporting of actuals to GD Corporate; consolidation and review of 19 business unit ledgers and management of the GD-OTS Home Office ledger. Collaborate with GD-OTS business unit finance leadership on accounting and financial close matters. Serve as a liaison with GD Corporate and business units to coordinate timely financial reporting including, performing evaluation of business unit submissions for completeness and accuracy. This is a highly visible role with significant growth opportunities in a strategic business unit of a Fortune 100 Company.

Major Position Responsibilities

Directs multiple accounting functions and operations such as general ledger, accounts payable, accounts receivable, revenue, asset, cost, and may also have responsibility for tax accounting.

Implements accounting policies and procedures that adhere to governmental financial and tax regulations and comply with GAAP and IFRS standards.

Oversees monthly, quarterly, and annual accounting close processes and reporting.

Evaluates accounting processes and systems and directs optimizations.

Develops and directs accounting professionals and support staff.

Leads and directs the work of other employees and has responsibility for personnel actions related to hiring, performance, and disciplinary actions with concurrence from the HR Directors & General Managers.

Additional Responsibilities

Lead the Home Office consolidation team responsible for monthly, quarterly and annual financial reporting for all of OTS by ensuring deadlines are met, review submissions for accuracy, assigning and reviewing work performed by the reporting team, and other related responsibilities.

Ensure compliance with internal controls, policies and procedures.

Provide guidance on technical accounting issues and questions to business units and locations. Comprehensive ability to analyze complex financial information concisely, and present conclusions and recommendations as needed.

Basic Qualifications

Required education and experience:

Associate's Degree and 10-12 years' experience or Equivalent Combination of Relevant Education &/or Experience

Knowledge, skills & abilities:

Account Reconciliation. Accounting Management. Accounts Payable. Balance Sheet Analysis. Bank Reconciliation. Financial Accounting. Financial Reporting. General Ledger Accounting. Project Management. Revenue Recognition. GAAP Standards. Accounting Software.

Critical professional related technical skills:

Proficient in MS Office (Excel, Word, PowerPoint).

Preferred Qualifications

Certifications:

Certified Public Accountant (CPA)

Preferred education and experience:

Bachelor's Degree

Discipline/Major:

Business, Finance or Accounting degree preferred.

Physical Demands:

Must be able to remain in a stationary position at a desk and/or computer for extended periods of time.

Work primarily in a climate-controlled environment with minimal safety/health hazard potential.

Travel:

No or very little travel likely.
