ABOUT THE POSITIONVHB's Wethersfield, CT office is seeking a Senior Transportation Engineering Manager in the Transportation Department to join our growing team. VHB's Transportation group has earned a reputation as one of the preeminent traffic engineering and transportation planning teams in Connecticut. This position provides an opportunity to lead complex transportation projects for major institutional, real estate, and governmental clients and play an important role in expanding and shaping the group. We are looking for someone with a blend of project management skills, technical expertise, managerial skills, and innovative thinking.ResponsibilitiesServe as Senior Project Manager for Municipal, CTDOT, and Regional Planning Agency clients
Develop and manage client relationshipsManage staff, and provide technical and professional development of staffAssist with strategy for expansion of transportation services throughout CTMonitor project financial performanceAttend and lead meetings with clients, regulatory agencies, and stakeholders to establish their needs and discuss/navigate transportation design/permitting challengesDevelop and execute scope associated with transportation planning, operations and/or design for projects as necessaryParticipate in professional organizations that promote relationships with clients and teaming partnersDevelop new project opportunities, and prepare and manage proposal submissionsSkills and AttributesSelf-motivatedAttention to detailAbility to multitaskAbility to think criticallyExhibits strong leadership skillsStrong computer skills (MS Office)Strong and collaborative work ethicExcels working in a team environmentSubstantial client management, technical and project management experienceAbility to manage a multidisciplinary team of professionalsExcellent verbal, written, and interpersonal communication skillsAdvanced knowledge of concepts, practices, and procedures in traffic engineeringAdvanced knowledge of local and state regulations governing transportation designSoftware exposure: AutoCAD, Civil3D, Bently CONNECT Suite, a plusQualificationsBachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, transportation planning or similar discipline requiredMaster's degree a plus (may substitute for 1 year of experience)15+ years of professional transportation engineering experience, with at least 7 years of experience working in the CT market, requiredCT Professional Engineer (PE) license requiredProven success in the state & local government market sectorsWe are VHB!
