Staff Accountant
Location: Vancouver, WA (5 days on-site)
Skills & Qualifications:
Bachelor’s degree in accounting or related subject
2+ years of applicable professional accounting experience
Governmental, property management, affordable housing, or non-profit industry accounting experience highly preferred
CPA certification/eligibility highly preferred.
Well-versed in US GAAP
Strong understanding of government accounting principles
Responsibilities:
Coordinate monthly financial data transfers from management companies to the accounting system.
Review monthly management company reports.
Evaluate monthly property financial reports and provide budget variance analysis.
Monitor compliance with internal control policies and procedures related to financial aspects of property management.
Plan and conduct internal audits and monitor compliance with LIHTC/HUD regulations.
Coordinate the annual budget process with management companies and the Property Management Department.
Prepare and distribute annual budget reports.
Reconcile multiple balance sheet and income statement accounts at year-end and prepare related schedules.
Submit annual WBARS financial reports for applicable properties.
Coordinate annual CPA audits and tax return preparation for multiple single-asset entities.
Prepare periodic financial reports for funders and internal/external users.
Analyze complex legal documents for compliance with contractual obligations and regulatory agreements.
Assist the Property Management Department with HUD rent increase and budget approval processes.
Maintain and reconcile various accounts, ledgers, reports, and accounting records.
Interpret financial transactions for users making economic or business decisions.
Record, classify, and summarize complex financial transactions in accordance with GAAP and prepare related journal entries.
