Responsibilities:

The New School seeks a part-time (15-20 hours/week) temporary Development Associate for Institutional Giving to support institutional fundraising efforts through comprehensive prospect research and corporate and foundation donor cultivation through June 2025. Reporting to the Assistant Vice President ( AVP ) of Institutional Giving, the Associate will be part of a university-wide team supporting projects across schools and centers. This role focuses on identifying, qualifying, and presenting corporate and foundation prospects to enhance the university’s institutional giving strategies and donor cultivation efforts and maintaining donor and prospect records in our CRM (Salesforce).

Job Responsibilities:

Prospect Research (50%)

Conduct research on corporate and foundation prospects that align with The New School’s priority areas and programmatic needs.

Develop prospect profiles, track giving histories, and analyze potential matches to inform strategic engagement with potential funders.

Identify and qualify new leads from internal data and external sources to create a strong pipeline for Institutional Giving.

Present qualified leads to the AVP , Institutional Giving team, and university partners to support tailored engagement plans.

Collaboration & Presentation (20%)

Collaborate with Institutional Giving team members to ensure an efficient prospect-to-proposal workflow.

Present research findings and potential funder matches to department heads and other university stakeholders, assisting in crafting targeted solicitation strategies.

Support cross-departmental efforts by engaging with faculty and staff to understand programmatic needs and potential funding opportunities.

Data & Process Management (25%)

Maintain accurate and timely documentation of prospect research in internal systems.

Contribute to the refinement and organization of prospect research tools and resources within the department.

Assist in creating and updating internal resources, such as tracking sheets and communication templates, to enhance the department’s efficiency.

Assist in Salesforce data cleanup and document migration.

Other duties as assigned (5%)

Work Mode:

Hybrid – Employees hired for this position primarily work remotely with the occasional on-campus presence required with advanced notice. Employees in this role will also be expected to use their best judgment to be on campus when necessary in order to best fulfill the responsibilities of their job descriptions.

Salary Range:

$35 – $40 Per Hour

Minimum Qualifications:

Minimum Qualifications:

Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent experience, plus 1-3 years of experience in prospect research, development, corporate partnerships, or a similar field, preferably in an educational or nonprofit organization.

Strong analytical skills with the ability to assess giving affinity, capacity, and alignment with institutional priorities.

Proficiency in prospect research tools and database management.

Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with attention to detail and accuracy.

Ability to work with all levels of employees across the University and cultivate relationships.
