Job Summary
As a Business Systems Analyst III (BI Developer & Data Analyst), the incumbent to this position makes determinations on systems requirements and technology selection and performs complex data analysis to ensure data management objectives are met. This position provides guidance to lower level staff and serves as a subject matter expert to leadership.
The BI Developer & Data Analyst in Technology Integration and Engagement is responsible for the following:
Developing and optimizing advanced SQL and other database queries to extract and analyzing specific datasets, ensuring performance efficiency through query tuning and indexing.
Designing custom reports and dashboards using BI tools like Power BI, focusing on data visualization and user requirements.
Defining and tracking key performance indicators (KPIs), monitoring data quality through validation and cleansing procedures, and implementing automated reporting solutions to enhance efficiency.
Troubleshooting data-related issues, enforcing data governance policies, and providing training and support to data end-users.
Collaborating with stakeholders to gather requirements and present findings, while also maintaining documentation and pursuing continuous improvement to ensure the delivery of impactful and actionable data insights.
This position works independently and under the general supervision of the Student Affairs’ Technology Integration and Engagement Services Associate Director.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Data Science, Information Systems, a related field, or 3 years of professional experience related to data analysis.
Proficiency in writing and optimizing complex SQL queries.
Experience with BI tools (e.g. Power BI, Tableau) for designing reports and dashboards.
Knowledge of data integration methods (e.g. APIs, databases, spreadsheets).
Understanding of data quality assurance and data governance, including compliance with FERPA and HIPAA .
Preferred Qualifications
Proven ability to develop and implement data integration strategies and create detailed data maps.
Experience in resolving data processing and reporting performance issues to optimize efficiency.
Extensive experience in designing and implementing automated reporting solutions for timely decision-making.
Advanced analytical skills for defining KPIs and generating actionable insights from data.
Excellent communication skills for presenting findings, gathering requirements, and integrating feedback.
Specific experience in higher education, particularly with student data and industry regulations.
Target Salary Range $85,000 - $92,000
