Position Overview:
The Boston Whaler Director of Quality will be responsible for developing and implementing quality strategies, systems, and processes to ensure the highest level of product quality and customer satisfaction. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including engineering, manufacturing, and suppliers, to drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization. The Quality Director will be responsible for both internal and external quality metrics and results. Work will be accomplished through collaboration with multiple internal and external stakeholders. As the director of the largest brands within the Brunswick Boat Group, this role will be a leader to drive best practices in quality across the entire boat group and industry. Essential Functions:
Drive quality improvement initiatives to enhance product quality, reliability, and customer experience.
Establish and maintain quality standards and procedures across all manufacturing phases, from design to production to delivery.
Lead root cause analysis and corrective action efforts for quality-related problems, working to eliminate defects, reduce warranty claims and improve customer satisfaction
Conduct regular audits and inspections to monitor compliance with quality standards and regulatory requirements.
Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, and product development ensure the effective integration of quality into all processes, products, and services.
Develop and implement a robust supplier quality management program to evaluate, monitor, and improve supplier performance.
Implement and maintain supplier corrective action processes to address non-conformances and ensure root cause analysis and timely resolution.
Measure, track, trend and create proactive action plans for quality and customer satisfaction across the entire brand
Baseline current and improve upon quality goals, performance metrics, and improvement initiatives focused on continual improvement and reduction and process variation
Drive a culture of quality and continuous improvement throughout the organization through training, workshops, and quality awareness campaigns.
Utilize Lean Six Sigma tools to drive root cause analysis and action planning
Consistently exhibit company values in all interactions with associates and customers
Must be willing to travel (minimum 10%).
Diversity of thought and experiences is fundamental when imagining the unimaginable. Certain skillsets/experiences are necessary; however, others can be developed along the way.
Required Qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Quality Management, or a related field. Master's degree is a plus.
Must have an excellent knowledge of manufacturing quality standards and best practices
Lean Six Sigma certification is preferred, willingness to become certified at a minimum of greenbelt within the first two years is required
Preferred Additional Skills & Experience:
Minimum of 10 years of progressive experience in quality management within the automotive industry, with at least 5 years in a leadership role.
Strong leadership, communication, and interpersonal skills, with the ability to influence and collaborate with cross-functional teams.
Experience in a low volume, high mix manufacturing environment.
Strong coaching and leadership skills with a proven ability to motivate others and affect change.
Excellent verbal, written and presentation skills; ability to communicate technical requirements effectively across multiple business areas.
Exceptional analytical and decision-making abilities, with a focus on data-driven problem-solving.
Experience working with customers, suppliers, and other stakeholders to address quality issues and build strong relationships.
Demonstrated ability to manage multiple tasks and assess priorities effectively.
Experience in identifying risks to plans; knowledge and experience to quickly identify mitigation opportunities. Strong execution skills.
Must have a proven track record of being able to influence and coordinate personnel and resources not within their immediate control.
Work Environment:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; high, precarious places; fumes or airborne particles; and toxic or caustic chemicals. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
