The Manufacturing Excellence Leader has overall responsibility for developing and implementing continuous improvement initiatives, factory standards, and the factory operating system. The person in this role is responsible for our manufacturing excellence program and maintaining high production quality, will work closely with the Leadership team and key business unit resources and team members.
Leading and participating in site-wide implementation of the manufacturing excellence standards (factory performance & reliability).
Analyze current process streams across the functions and identify opportunities for improvement.
Ensure that production metrics, continuous improvement initiatives and factory standards are effectively implemented and maintained.
Report status and results of continuous improvement projects to management and employees.
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Supervise and report weekly KPI’s as well as prepare reports for the end of the month: Quality Pays Report, Asset Utilization report, KPI report.
Streamline productivity by applying continuous improvement tools such as changeover reduction, TPM and Visual Factory.
Utilizing the input of the leadership team and operations personnel, develop a CI strategy and implementation plan.
Design and manage continuous improvement initiatives.
Review Project Hopper on a quarterly basis with the leadership team to check progress on CI activities to gauge effectiveness.
Lead, guide, facilitate, and work with plant task forces, production/maintenance team members, vendors, etc. to implement and resolve identified and prioritized CI improvement projects.
Manage and coordinate regrind inventory to help facilitate use and disposal.
Manages the FP&R budget.
Act as a resource for training plant personnel regarding FP&R standards.
Understand and comply with Hill’s policies, safety standards, Good Manufacturing Practices (GMPs) and Food Safety. Identify and report Food Safety issues to management.
Required qualifications:
Bachelor's degree in Engineering, Industrial Engineering, Operations Management, Supply Chain, Business or a related field.
Excellent problem-solving skills and root cause analysis proficiency.
Strong communication and interpersonal skills.
3 years of manufacturing experience
Preferred qualifications:
Lean Six Sigma certification or similar continuous improvement methodologies
Continuous Improvement Tools, or FMEA tools.
Knowledge in SMED and KAIZEN methodologies.
Experience in project management.
Flexibility to contribute additional work hours when needed.
Compensation and Benefits
Salary Range $91,200.00 - $128,000.00 USD
Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.
Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
