Role:

This position is responsible for protecting Hill’s brand equity by ensuring food safety programs are designed,developed, implemented and effectively controlling food safety hazards in all North America Hill’s sites and contract manufacturing locations . On-going evaluation and continuous improvement of these programs is required.

Main Responsibilities:

Design and develop corporate and global plant food safety policies and programs. Ensure programs are implemented and effectively working to meet compliance of all food safety requirements, including applicable government regulations .

Provide leadership to plant food safety and quality teams concerning:

Colgate Quality Standards

FDA Food Safety Modernization Act (FSMA)

Global Food Safety Initiative (GFSI) certified audit schemes (SQF)

Track KPI progress and drive continuous improvement initiatives to improve food safety controls across the Supply Chain.

Provide leadership on key food safety programs including, but not limited to, cleaning & sanitization, environmental monitoring, and sanitary design. Provide direction to Corporate Technical Engineering on food safety CEB initiatives.

Develop tools and training guidance for all food safety initiatives and programs. Lead food safety validation initiatives.

Maintain current understanding and communicate regulatory requirements that impact Hill’s food safety programs. Represent Hill’s on external trade association food safety committees (e.g. PFI, AFIA, ).

Ensure timely and effective root cause analysis and CAPA for any significant site food safety issue.

Identify and trial new food safety and microbiology technologies.

Present relevant food safety topics and updates to Hill’s and Colgate Leadership teams.

Required Qualifications:

Bachelors of Science (Microbiology, Food Science or related scientific field)

5+ year experience in food or pet food quality and food safety, food/pet food manufacturing or product safety

3+ years supervisory or managerial experience

Preferred Qualifications:

Master’s Degree in Microbiology, Food Science, or related scientific field

5+ year supervisory or managerial experience

Compensation and Benefits

Salary Range $137,000.00 - $150,000.00 USD

Pay is determined based on experience, qualifications, and location. Salaried employees may also be eligible for discretionary bonuses, profit-sharing, and long-term incentives for Executive-level roles.

Benefits: Salaried employees enjoy a comprehensive benefits package, including medical, dental, vision, basic life insurance, paid parental leave, disability coverage, and participation in the 401(k) retirement plan with company matching contributions subject to eligibility requirements. Additional benefits include a minimum of 15 vacation/PTO days (hourly employees receive a minimum of 120 hours) and 13 paid holidays (vacation days are prorated based on the employee's hire date within the calendar year). Paid sick leave is adjusted based on role and location in accordance with local laws. Detailed information regarding paid sick leave entitlements will be provided to employees upon hiring and may be subject to adjustments based on changes in legislation or company policies.
