Due to recent promotional opportunities, our Gastrointestinal Care (GIC) organization has a Regional Sales Director (RD) vacancy for the South Central Region reporting to the GIC National Sales Director. The RD will direct the sales strategy, planning, and execution for a field-based sales team by driving agreed upon short-term sales targets and long-term goals & objectives. The position is also responsible for continuing to develop AbbVie’s image and reputation as a market leader and solution-provider across the stakeholder base. Primary responsibilities for this significant leadership position will include but not limited to:

Own the business in the Region delivering top- and bottom-line objectives while driving all aspects of financial and business metrics; leverage relationships, analytical insights, and expertise to achieve and exceed business objectives.

Drive sales results and build current & future competitive advantage by understanding & addressing key customers’ needs, and by demonstrating deep understanding of competitors’ products & strategies.

Partner effectively across matrix teams and associated stakeholders (e.g., Marketing, Medical, Market Access, Patient Services, Training, Field Planning & Analysis, HR, etc.) by creating trust and respect to successfully execute brand and franchise strategies.

People leadership, development, and growth of a team of high-performing District (Sales) Managers (DMs) leveraging both “coaching to the number” and “coaching to the behavior” approaches. Expect and inspect the same as DMs coach their respective Sales Representatives.

The RD will also have second-level leadership responsibilities for all the Sales Representatives in the Region and is therefore expected to cultivate an inclusive and highly-engaged culture by attracting, developing, & retaining talent, motivating them to perform at their highest potential.

Translate and execute brand & organizational strategies by creating specific market plans that are clearly-communicated to capitalize on local business opportunities; ensure all teammates in the Region understand their roles, our expectations, and how their day-to-day activities impact customers and company performance.

Create space and strategies for sales teams to achieve both incremental and exponential innovation that enhance organizational performance.

Identify barriers & challenges – ensuring timely guidance to senior management – and co-create implementation of solutions.

Balance business priorities and resources, adapting to the external and internal environment.

Consistently role model the AbbVie Ways We Work and associated People Leadership Attributes.

Significant Work Activities -Continuous sitting for prolonged periods (more than 2 consecutive hours in an 8 hour day)

Qualifications

Key Qualifications and Experiences:

7-10+ years of sales experience in the pharmaceutical/biotech/medical device industry in progressive commercial leadership roles with a positive track record of leading teams (minimally 5 years preferred)

Functional diversity (e.g., Training, Marketing, etc.) in areas outside of sales preferred, as well as experience in more than one therapeutic area

Documented track record of sustained high performance and strong leadership.

Advanced business analytical skills to identify trends, opportunities, and threats; determine actions to drive business and overcome challenges.

Ability to set a vision & a strategy, and inspiring teams to compliantly execute for success.

Strong influencing, partnership, communication, executive presence, and project management skills that help support a complex set of internal and external stakeholders.

Demonstrated ability in attracting and developing world-class commercial talent.

Bachelor’s degree required; advanced degree preferred.

Preference is to live within the Region to maximize field times.

The compensation range described below is the range of possible base pay compensation that the Company believes in good faith it will pay for this role at the time of this posting based on the job grade for this position. Individual compensation paid within this range will depend on many factors including geographic location, and we may ultimately pay more or less than the posted range. This range may be modified in the future.​

Salary: $151,500 - $288,000
