Sr. TPM, Avionics, Project Kuiper

Amazon, Redmond, Washington, United States, 98052

Description

Project Kuiper is an initiative to increase global broadband access through a constellation of 3,236 satellites in low Earth orbit (LEO). Its mission is to bring fast, affordable broadband to unserved and underserved communities around the world. Project Kuiper will help close the digital divide by delivering fast, affordable broadband to a wide range of customers, including consumers, businesses, government agencies, and other organizations operating in places without reliable connectivity.

The Senior Technical Program Manager for Kuiper will help define and develop the interfaces, manage requirements, and organize technical efforts. This role includes direct responsibility for program management of system level development, integration, and test. This is a highly technical role requiring experience with integrated hardware and software development as well as some appreciation for complex applications. You will have significant influence over the design and the test approach we take to develop the system.

You will tackle challenging, novel situations every day and have the opportunity to work with multiple technical teams at Amazon in different locations. You should be comfortable with a high degree of ambiguity and relish the idea of solving problems that haven't been solved at scale before. Along the way, we guarantee that you will learn a lot, have fun and make a positive impact on millions of people.

Key job responsibilities

This position requires a program management background and direct experience developing relevant systems. You will create and drive high-level strategic initiatives, but will also roll up your sleeves and contribute directly. Your ability to understand the big picture of the project design and anticipate and plan dependencies is crucial. Your ability to take large, complex projects, break them into manageable pieces, and deliver timely results is invaluable. You will work with a team of experts and drive the team to successfully accomplish the following activities:

Drive complex cross-functional engineering trades to optimize performance, mass, cost, and reliability of high performance systems.

Coordinate the work with teams developing other systems as well as assembly, integration and tests.

Develop and manage technical requirements and interfaces that tie to system level requirements.

Identify and manage the conduct of trade studies and analyses necessary to understanding performance and other aspects of the design.

Manage the development of complex hardware and software development.

Optimize the velocity of engineering development through the design and application of mechanisms.

Manage timeline, dependencies, and deliverables.
